Because of the cold spring the aphids which ladybirds feed upon didn't hatch. They are only now beginning to emerge. I don't know why the ladybirds are not in abundance now but they could be soon. How DID the ladybirds know there were no aphids?

I have no ladybirds (aphids a plenty though) but my friend literally half a mile away has loads of them. Not entirely sure what plants they prefer, but if helps, get some Honeysuckle. You'll have loads of butterflies.

I believe we haven't seen a lot of the ladybirds, because the men are taking all the limelight...
Presidents and miltary is all we get to see...

Not sure, but all the snails are in our garden if you would like some of them. According to Gordon you can eat them, its a real shame that I'm veggie, I could have a feast out there!

Good question - don't think I've seen any at all this year. Blooming loads of mosquitoes though - the little blood suckers.

I had a yellow one in my kitchen yesterday - it had dark brown spots too! Haven't seen any 'ordinary' ones though.
