I am interested in learning to make easy canvas paint and put them on the wall but it may sound hard for a beginner. I want to start from abstract painting. But where do I find those tools (like painting tool, canvas, frames)? Does local store sell these stuff (what are their names?)? Is there any online video that i can learn from?

I also want to develop some poster-size digital pictures and maybe I can frame them and put on the wall. Any suggestion how to develop?

With my old school ways I was about to start digging and filling sono-tubes. Then I discovered these helical piling thingies. Don't know yet how many needed or how expensive to install, but apparently they go in extremely fast. Somehow I get the impression that many will be needed for the same job, so the cost is probably higher considering the shmancy twisteroo required to put them in. Apparently they conform to Nat. Build Code, but nobody seems to use them locally--What's up with that.

Want to lengthen a 10 ft wide room by removing an end wall which is under the gable end in a bungalow. The gable end is also 10 ft wide. Would like to maintain the full width between walls after opening---so also wondering if jack studs for the header can be built within the framing of the existing side walls.

I will have laminate flooring installed in my house this weekend and I am required to disconnect and reconnect my gas stove. The installers will not do that part for me. Is there anything I should know or have to prepare properly for removal and re installation?

Hi.

One of my bedrooms was divided in half by a piece of wood (like a baseboard but in the center of the wall). I was going to repaint the room and removed the piece of wood. I didn't plan on putting the boards back, but will if I have to.

When I removed the boards, some of the old paint came off with it, so when I repainted the surface of the wall is very uneven. Is there something I can do to fix this or do I just put the boards back on?

Thanks!

I was going to make a box for my girlfriend and do some other creative things with it well i needed to do something cheaper so i thought of writing a poem for her and writing it on clay and decorating it and framing the clay but I want to make the frame myself how would i go around doing that? I want it to be a 8X10 or would it be cheaper to just go buy a frame but I need to fit a thin thing of clay. Please help.

i have two weeks left before christmas break at school my goal is to finish a project in shop class that im making for my mom. we r building grandmother clocks. i have everything made and put together except for weights for the middle. how long do u think it would take to stain the clock, wait for it to dry, and put 3 coats of polyurethene on it. and also i live in a cold area and i get out of school on the 21st and am planning on bringing the clock home if i finish it. would it be ok to put it in my garage (which has no heat) for a few days until christmas eve night when we will bring it out before my mother goes to bed?

So, I had originally decided to start my boyfriend on a nice toolset. Now, i've delved a bit deeper only to discover that what he is actually interested in is woodworking. He wants to be able to build, and put fancy details on, things like tables, chairs, shelves... the like. We both live in apartments until we're married, and neither of us have a garage or anything, so my set for him needs to start small. What is a great first tool or several tools that every woodworker should have? What will prove to be the most useful, and what should I avoid? I've already got a gift for him for Christmas this year, but our anniversary is coming up, as is valentines day, as is his birthday... so many ideas would be great! Please tell me specifically what to look for, how much it should cost, what the best/worst brand is, and where i can go to get it (i'm in michigan... we have home depot, lowes... and...i think thats it). thanks guys!

Why are most outdoor Christmas light sets only 2-pronged? Outdoor outlets are always 3-pronged and I worry that there will be an electrical hazard when plugging a 2-pronged plug into them.

I see in the Sears Catalog, they often sell A Drill and Driver as a set. Like those 19.2V battery ones. Both look fairly similar to me, and of course, I know what a Drill is.... but what is a Driver primarily used for?

I want to start making candles, just as a hobby. But the thing is I know nothing about it. So I have a few questions:

-What are all the supplies that I'll need?
-Are any supplies better than others?
-Can I get everything I need at AC Moore?
-Can crayons be used for coloring?
-What can be used for coloring and scenting?
-What are different types of candles that can be made (different techniques, etc)
-Anything else I need to know?

Thanks so much to anyone who answers..I have no clue what I'm doing here! =D

I'm ready to save money with a programmable thermostat. I have an old boiler (radiator heat) and a brand new Trane central air conditioner system, installed in January of this year. Is there any advantage to buying a Trane programmable thermostat over another brand thermostat (since my a/c is Trane)? Any disadvantages?

Thanks.
