I have an electrical curcit that is working but it has 4 volts of feedback. I changed a switch and when I went to screw it back into the metal box, there was a small spark. I checked it with a meter and found that there was 4 volts AC between the box and the metal part of the switch. I checked all of the grounds from the box to the switch but didn't find anything loose. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this????

I have an office chair, but the plastic armrests, which hold the back of the chair to the seat, snapped under my weight.

I plan on making new armrests out of 1.5"x1.5" steel square tube, what gauge/wall thickness should I use, which must be able to support a 280lb man (but I'd like to to be able to support someone 400lbs+, just so I have a guarantee that this won't break)

(And in case somebody feels the need to make a juvenile comment about my weight, I'm 6'6", so 280lbs is not very fat at all)

Ever since my wife first used my Dewalt drill driver, that's the tool for everything! Even if it's just a screw that needs a little tightening, and a regular screwdriver would do, she breaks out the heavy equipment.
I have the full compliment of accesories. Drill bits, screw driver heads, etc.
I will say this. We had an old dog house that was coming appart. She went at it with some wood screws and the Dewalt, and it's not going to fall apart now...lol
Anyone else's wife or gf like this?

I know you can remove a broken off bulb with a carrot or potato but I have no vegetables handy. I do have a stale cruller would that work? There is a bit of the glass still sticking out and if I wait till morning I might be able to get a fresh bagel from Mrs. Goldberg in 2A and remove it that way.

scenario

You are building a brick house.

The bricks are free,
the insulation is free,
the roofing is free, and labor is free

Now, what else would have to be free in order to get the cost of building this house down to 15.00 per square foot?

I am replacing my thermostat on my heat pump. I am replacing a Janitor HPT18-60 with a Ritetemp 8082c. My old stat had the following terminals Y(Yellow wire) G(Green wire) R(Red Wire) O(Orange wire) W2(White wire) E (Brown wire) and C(Blue wire). I followed the directions provided and it said to tape off the brown wire that had been connected to the E terminal... Now I hear the unit outside fire up, but the blower is not working. Any suggestions?

I know this question has been posted before but my situation is a little bit more special.

I want to hang curtains up in my room. I currently have a sheet hanging up there held with push pins, I'm not sure what kind of wall this is but it took all my might and forever for me to get them in. I live in a dorm room so of course this means I can't drill holes in the walls, not even if I wanted to because as I mentioned earlier the walls are impossibly hard.

I can't use a tension rod because they is already mini-blinds installed. I need the curtains because there is a light right outside my window. Also the 3M or anything sticky doesn't stay because there are many little bumps on the walls just like the same ones you get when you do a bad paint job. Except I think they did it on purpose.

Any and all ideas are appreciated except if you tell me to do something I mentioned that I can't.

Thank you so much.

Note: I have never dealt with anything electrical in my life (although I think I'm competent enough to do this with a little help from Yahoo! Answers) so please explain in great detail.

Thanks so much!

My toilet seat has two (supports / spacers) under it, that make contact with the actual toilet bowl. One of the supports is falling apart.
Is there an easy way to fix it or replace it with something?

Or should I just go to the hardware store and purchase a new toilet seat?
