I have an office chair, but the plastic armrests, which hold the back of the chair to the seat, snapped under my weight.

I plan on making new armrests out of 1.5"x1.5" steel square tube, what gauge/wall thickness should I use, which must be able to support a 280lb man (but I'd like to to be able to support someone 400lbs+, just so I have a guarantee that this won't break)

(And in case somebody feels the need to make a juvenile comment about my weight, I'm 6'6", so 280lbs is not very fat at all)
