Cleaning solid oak floor? any helpful ideas on how to get it shining?

Go to Lowes or any store like it & buy Bruce's Wood Floor Cleaner. It cleans & shines but doesn't leave the floor slippery. I have used it in the past & it works great.

Most wax finishes make the floor very slippery! 'Ronseal' do some good products, but from experience the more you polish the more you have to maintain the finish. If you have the patience, let it shine naturally with wear.

You can hire/buy floor buffing machines - they have big polishing heads and just skim over the floor bringing it up to a high shine in no time!
