I have leased my cottage by the sea, but I have to get the ring around the toilet out and its stubborn. I see no signs of hard water here. What works?

The ring is most likely mineral deposit. Bleach will turn the deposit white but won't remove it. It will quickly return. Vinegar will work if the ring is under the water line. Otherwise, go to your local janitor supply store and buy a pumice stick. You use the stick to scrape off the deposits. Five minutes up close and personal with the toilet bowl and it will look like new.

OK - you're probably not going to believe this one - but it works. After I use the Olay facial cloths, I re-use the cloths to clean the bathroom. They work wonders on soap scum and tub/toilet rings. One night, I'll clean up the sink, the next night the toilet, and, well, you get the drill. But I've even used them to get the lime rings out of a vase! Nothing had worked on that - including bleach and contact lens solution.

So, don't knock it until you've tried it. It doesn't stink like other cleaning products, too!
