I am putting down laminate in my house and I don't feel like pulling off the baseboards. Is it completely rediculous to just keep the baseboards intact and then use quarter round to cover the gap between the baseboards and the laminate flooring? If I can get away with this, should the quarter round be the same color as the baseboards (white) or the same color as the flooring (maple). Thanks!

I'm just finishing the basement of my 1600sqft home. I was wondering if I should put in a 3/4 bath or a half bath?

What would the difference in resale value be?

I currently have two full baths (ensuite and guest) and one half bath (powder)

It happens on both Hot and Cold and usually when I turn it on full throttle fast.

WHat can I do to prevent it?

I was exploring my attic space on my house (built in 1978) and noted that it had about 6 inches of gray, powdery insulation. The stuff almost looks like a bunch of old ground up newspaper. Can someone please tell me what kind of insulation this is? I'm really hoping it's not asbestos.

its been a week since we stained our kitchen cabnets wooden handles, and its still tacky. We sanded the hanles lightly before we stained them. There wasnt mush to sand, it looked like most of the old stain was almost gone. To install new handles would be a real pain. I Any Ideas !

I tried a new cleaner and polish and took the shine off my laminate counter top. Is there anything I can do to put the shine back on.

It has to stand up to 3 boys.
Someone recommended Gemshine, but I can't find that brand.
I used Minwax clear satin in one room, and it seems to work well except it was hard to apply with getting swirl marks.

I use Jason's natural toothpaste, and it's really clumpy. I am pretty sure that it has accumulated about an inch-1.3in down the sink drain. I shined my laser pointer down to get it to glow up nicely and can see it. It takes like a minute for my sink to fully drain after leaving the water on for maybe 15-20 seconds. What can I do!? I don't know if I can pluck the styff out with anything. Will drano gel help? I used the liquidy drano...didn't do anything. Help!

Our walls must have like 10 coats of paint on them and they have a rough egg-shell texture. When I crack-fill and sand nail holes it leaves a smooth spot in that area. Do you think priming the entire room would help prevent the uneven texture of smooth spots and egg-shell texture? I don't think it would work, but my b/f thinks it might help. I don't want to do it if it will be a waste of time/energy/money. Any tips would be useful. Thanks.

I'm in the process of insularing and putting interior wall surfaces in my art studio (loft in a garage). The primary heat source this winter will be a pellet stove (outside air source for combustion air) used only while I am working in the studio. I need a space heater that will at the very least keep the space (12'x7'x24') above freezing while I am not in it. I've noticed on the baseboard heaters that they reccomend not using them in an area that is subject to high dust levels or fumes. Since most of my work is done in dry pastels and I use fixative (also mineral spirits when I paint in oils), I was concerned that I might be setting myself up for a flash fire or explosion if I installed a baseboard system.
Keep in mind that I do not have gas or propane to the building (a hopefully near future project!), so eletricity is my only choice of energy for the heat.
Any thoughts on this?

Thank you!

I want to fence a part of it, so my dog doesn't get into the part that has plants. I'm thinking of putting a wood fence. I want to do it myself. But have no idea how to. I was thinking i could just go to one of those wood places, buy some panels, and put them in.
Do you just dig a hole for each one to put it in? Do i need to bind them all together? should i leave space in between them?

My entertainment center measures 26 7/8" by 60 7/8" on the top with two lower shelfs measuring 11 7/8" by 60 7/8". I'm using simple corner guards for trim. I want them to fit together at 45 degree angles. I've tried twice before and the pieces were too short ( I didn't compensate for the trim's thickness) in one or both dimensions.

i'm in an apartment and my 2 yr. old scribbled on the white wood walls with a black sharpie marker. how can i get the marker off without taking the paint off? nail polish remover removes the marker, but also some paint, and mr. clean magic eraser does the same thing. i don't want to have to re-paint or get charged by my landlord.

I'm talking about 6 ft cedar pickets with 3 rail backing vs. the 3 rail split rail (4-5 ft high/whatever is standard). There will need to be two gates. I'm not needing accurate price points but comparative ratios.

I have a new home and my toilet's handle worked perfectly fine up until now. Right now, my toilet's handle is really stiff, so I either have to push on it really hard, or I have to lift up the lid and flush it manually. Tips and advice would be appreciated.

I tried to grind them in a coffee-mill and a pepper-mill, but neither had results. they are too soft and light to sit on the bottom and get crashed by the mill's grinder. any other options by someone who's actually made it?
