I want to fence a part of it, so my dog doesn't get into the part that has plants. I'm thinking of putting a wood fence. I want to do it myself. But have no idea how to. I was thinking i could just go to one of those wood places, buy some panels, and put them in.
Do you just dig a hole for each one to put it in? Do i need to bind them all together? should i leave space in between them?

I don't really need it to be pretty... just to hold my dog on the other side. She's gonna be medium size.

buy at least 4x4 posts if your fence is 6ft high then you need at least 8ft length posts dig holes 2ft into ground put each post 6ft apart level post fill with ballast mix and stablise post with scrap wood leave post to set at least overnight have three cross members 2x2 or 3x2 running from each post and stagger them then nail fence planks to members
p.s. forget about fence pannels they are flimsy and as soon as the wind hits them they act as sail and yip youve guessed it one windy youll walk outside and your fence is on the floor and your dog has trampled all over your lovley plants

No, because the wood is too heavy for the light-weight tubing used for the top rail and posts in chain link fencing. A good hard wind will collapse the top rail if you try putting wood up on it. You would need to remove the chain link fencing and replace the metal posts with wood posts. I would recommend using 6" diameter wood posts as a minimum size and 8' in length for building a privacy fence 6' high.

Simply dig postholes every 8 feet about 16 inches deep. You can put the post (4x4 pressure treated lumber) in the hole and add mixed concrete around it. Stablilize the posts by nailing or screwing scrap wood to them to hold them upright level and plumb. Wait 24 hours.

You can buy fence sections in 8 ft. lengths and attach them to the posts with metal joist hangers and screws or by simply toenailing (putting in at an angle) screws in.

Just check your measurements between posts. Too close together and you will have to cut your fence down to fit. Too far apart and you won't be able to join the fence to the post.

Fencing is a labor intensive project, but not hard to do at all.

Buy the panels and you'll need some posts too. One post for every section and one more for the gate. Drill the holes for the posts with an auger or use post hole diggers. Set the first post in cement and the gate posts will also need cement to hold them up. The other posts will be fine with just hard packed dirt to hold them. Measure carefully when digging the holes and call your utility locator to find if there are any wires or pipes in your yard.
You will need to screw the panels to the posts and the hinges to the gate.
Pet the dog for me and good luck.

You'll need a "post hole digger" so you can dig the holes to bury the posts that the fence will be attached to. Next, you'll need some cement to mix with water & put into the hole around each post. Let it dry, then secure each section of fence to the post with screws or nails. You'll probably need two posts for each section of fence. Go to Lowes & they'll give you the info you need. Have fun!

you have to mark first the area you want to fence once you did that you have to installl at lease one post in each corner, usually you will have to instal a post each 8 feet because that is how long the fence sections are, you will have to bind them together by nailing the sections right in the middle of the post, allowing for the other section of fence to be nail in the same post,is not a great science but it can be hard work good luck

If you are doing this just for the dog why don't get one of those invisible fences for dogs. Its simple to install just a wire under the ground and a collar on the dog. When the dog goes to cross the wire it gets a mild shock and will stay away from there. This will be cheaper and there won't be any maintaince.

I would just like to add a word about those fence panels, if your yard isn't perfectly flat they aren't going to work.
