I have a new home and my toilet's handle worked perfectly fine up until now. Right now, my toilet's handle is really stiff, so I either have to push on it really hard, or I have to lift up the lid and flush it manually. Tips and advice would be appreciated.

:)

With no offense meant to you at all, I want to assume that the threading and NUT on the inside of the tank,,,for the handle,,,are plastic. The issue is that the NUT is supposed to thread in the reverse of the action of the handle. First thing I'd try is loosening that nut just a wee bit, and check the action at that point.

Open the tank, use a pair of channel locks (Pliers) and turn in the opposite direction of most nuts-the nut holding the handle on from inside against the tank. It just needs to be loosened slightly.
