I have just brought a new oven ,the front it is silver antique effect and there is a label right on the front , the more I try to peel it off only the 'paper' bit comes of in little strips and leaves a white sticky gluey bit, does anyone know how to get this label off without scratching the metal.

The best way to do this is to use baby oil and a tissue. Just rub the oil over the glue and rub with the tissue starting from the outside. I did the same with a new fridge freezer and it doesn't stain. you need to use a bit of elbow grease but it will be worth it

Do not use any spirits or solvents because it may ruin the silver coating. Dab a tissue paper with baby oil and stick it on the sticky area and leave it for a few minutes. Then rub it off gently with a soft cloth.

Use methys on a rag and keep rubbing it across the label. It will get it off and wont scratch the metal

Squirt a bit of WD40 or a similar spray oil, leave it to soak for a few mins and then use a plastic scourer to fetch it off.

Goo Gone or lemon juice. Let the juice sit on it for a few minutes and then try mushing the sticker off.

Hot soapy water and a soft cloth......when oven not alight then nail polish remover does the trick then wash down with hot water again...

I have a stuff called STICKY STUFF REMOVER It removes most labels and other sticky things. I got mine from Betaware cataloge that was left in my door but they have a Website that you can order from. www.betterware.co.uk

Goo Gone, it is so easy. I have taken stickers off of car windows, refrigerators, stuff from stores/garage sales, etc. Good luck!

Try either white spirit or nail varnish remover.

try hot soapy water with a cloth. dont want anything abrasive.i had the same trouble with a balti dish. took it back to shop eventually,
