i'm in an apartment and my 2 yr. old scribbled on the white wood walls with a black sharpie marker. how can i get the marker off without taking the paint off? nail polish remover removes the marker, but also some paint, and mr. clean magic eraser does the same thing. i don't want to have to re-paint or get charged by my landlord.

Another idea is to write over it with a dry erase marker and then use a dry eraser and wifpe it away. My daughter's pre-school teacher showed us this trick and it's been very helpful on multiple surfaces so far. Also, I do agree with the above suggestion of using a MR.CLEAN ERASER. My wife has used this one too.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. My Daughter did the same thing. She scribbled on the front of the stove and on the tile floor. I tried the Magic Eraser and it came off.

My daughter did that one time and the only way I was able to fix it was to paint it with Kilz and then paint over that. I tried just painting, but the marker just bled through. So I used two coats of Kilz and then painted. Sorry.

I think the magic eraser is the next-best thing to priming and repainting that section of the wall (which of course would lead to painting the rest of the wall). And next time, put the permanent markers in a child-safe place.

You can't take it off. Go to Home Depot and buy a can of Kilz. It's oil based, and will cover the marker without bleed through.
