I can't figure out if the C for cold is on the right or left side. If right side, does this mean I have to turn the handle to the right to get cold water?

Also my handle is not a knob it is more of a lever. If cold is on the right I would actualy have to move the lever to the left to get the pointer to move to the right.

Help what is the standard here? Is it the same for sink faucets?

I am replacing a ceiling rose with a pendent light and on removing the cover of the ceiling rose, I can see three red wires going into three blocks termed loop. Now when I wire the new light up I know from previous little jobs that the black/blue neutel wire wire up together as do the red/brown live, but I am looking at three red wires connected to the "loop" section of the ceiling rose. Do I put these into seperate compartments in the block or put them together.
Thanks in advance

I have a brass/gold colored sink fixture and am trying to find shower fixtures and shower doors that match and am having no luck at Lowe's or Home Depot. The only seem to have silver and nickel. I have found some brass items online but they are over half the price of the same thing in the other colors. Why the high price as well?

I know I sound really stupid but if it is a 10x12 room do you multiply by 4 for each side of the rooms walls to determine how much border you need? I am attempting to decorate a toddler room for the first time and am clueless.

We planned to paint my redone attic room from white to dark blue
When we went to The home depot, they gave us a primer, a lighter shade of blue and said after one coat of that, go ahead with the dark blue actual paint.
After letting the primer dry for 18 hours or so (was that enough) we started on the 1st coat of dark blue paint and when finished it looked like ***.
In some places it was darker and you can see parts of the roller swipe...
AHHHH

The sign has 6 florescent Lights. 3 on 1 side and 3 on the other each tubs about 7 ft long.
The 3 on the left side work and the 3 on the right do not
There is only 1 ballast and wires come out of 1 side and feed the left that work and wires come out of the right and that side does not although the top right bulb has a slight glow.
If you feel the ballast it feels hot and checking the outside temp of it is about 156 deg..
Can the 1 ballast go partly bad?
What should the voltage be coming out of the ballast. The input is 120V
I have replaced the bulbs so I guess that I am stuck at this point?

Thanks

I did the alcohol swab test to see if the original paint was oil or latex and since paint came off easily, it looks like the old owners painted high gloss latex (the current peeling paint) over another high gloss latex. How can we fix this?

The top of the flag pole has two holes and a pulley. The rope needs to go up through one of the holes, across the pulley, and then down through the other hole.

Cool, but it's 30' up there.

Naturally, the flag pole can come down. It's a tapered aluminum sleeve that comes off a post easily. Trouble is, it's fairly heavy. How can I let it down without a crash?

Any ideas?

Thank you.

I've got a hornets nest in my back yard about the size of my head. The hornet spray I bought directs me to spray the hole, which is usually on the bottom. Well...in order to do that, I'd have to sit right underneath it, as it is only at waist level, hanging from a bush.

No thanks.

Anyone have any suggestions? My only vantage point puts me in their kill zone.

Our commode only runs about once per hour. Surely there has to be a simple way to adjust the ballcock so that the commode is not calling for so much water.

Ok, I am refurbishing my house, I have stripped paint from all wooden surfaces (window sills, door frames, staircase etc).
After that I have sanded all the wood with very rough sandpaper. The surfaces are smooth to the touch. I am planning to varnish them with clear matt varnish.
Do I need to sand everything again with a medium or fine sand paper before that or can I just wash it, let it dry and then varnish? Does it have to be treated with something before being varnished?
Is there any trick to do with soft wood to make it stronger when varnished? (I've heard of Ronseal "diamond-hard" varnish - is it any good?)

Thanks for your help
