I know I sound really stupid but if it is a 10x12 room do you multiply by 4 for each side of the rooms walls to determine how much border you need? I am attempting to decorate a toddler room for the first time and am clueless.

Oh wow, I do need special help....that makes complete sense!!! I don't know why I could not figure that out.

I made it more complicated than necessary: 10x4=40 and 12x4=48, 40+48=88/2=44

No wonder I am always confused!

you have 10 twice and 12 twice. add that (44) and then add a few feet for wastage.

Not a stupid question at all.

Rolls of border usually come in three yard lengths. That is 9'. Some rolls are more.

You will figure by the running foot.

In other words, 10'+12'+10'+12'=44' (Total)

For the 12' sides, you will need four(4) rolls for each side---4rolls x3yards=12'

For the 10' sides you will also need four(4) rolls for each side---

{Three rolls would short you---3rollsx3yards=9' } Short one foot on each of your 10' sides. That is why you need four rolls.

Hope this makes sense. If not email me and I will explain more to you.

You can always ask at the store where you buy your border. The salesperson can help.

Tell them that you need 44' and that is all that they need to know.
Have Fun !!

If it is a 10x12 room you have two walls that are 10 foot long and two walls that are 12 foot long. Add up those 4 numbers 10+10+12+12 to get 44 feet. See how many feet are in each package and buy enough to yield 44 feet (might be two packages).

THAT WOULD BE 44 FOOT AND BORDER COMES IN 15 FEET ROLLS SO 4 ROLLS WOULD BE PLENTY, THAT WOULD ALLOW FOR A RUN PATTERN SO YOU CAN MATCH UP THE SEAMS....4 ROLLS!! AND IT WOULD BE PRE PASTED SO THAT IS ALL YOU WOULD NEED
