We planned to paint my redone attic room from white to dark blue
When we went to The home depot, they gave us a primer, a lighter shade of blue and said after one coat of that, go ahead with the dark blue actual paint.
After letting the primer dry for 18 hours or so (was that enough) we started on the 1st coat of dark blue paint and when finished it looked like ***.
In some places it was darker and you can see parts of the roller swipe...
AHHHH
help

That's normal. Put another coat on with a finer nap roller. You can probably only see it where the light hits it.

I agree that it needs to be mega-shaken and then have it looked at by Home Depot paint personnel before you bring it home again. Also, a second coat will improve the appearance and a third coat should make a HUGE difference. If it still looks terrible, maybe try getting a similar color in a different paint line (different brand) after getting your money back. I always buy all my paint at Benjamin Moore. Yes, it is more expensive, but after you buy 4 cans of a cheaper brand to cover, have you really saved any money? I have never bought a can of BM paint that didn't look absolutely beautiful with just a second coat. Hope this helps and I hope your room will get to looking better ...

Yes--18 hours for primer to dry is plenty of time.
I have heard some very negative reviews about Home Depot and their paint dept.

Sounds like it wasn't mixed properly. Take it back and do some complaining.

You should not have ANY problems especially with the primer going on first.

Those dark designer paints do not cover well. We did a Ralph Lauren Dark maroon in our house. The 1st and 2nd coats looked like crap. The 3rd coat looks much better but I can still see different colors and shades. I think the 4th and 5th coats would make it look better but I am not going to buy anymore of this crap.

Do it again, yes I know you have to do it more than once to cover the spots that got less paint the first time. It will be worth it - don't worry.

Happy Painting.

Did you get HD to shake up the can when they mixed the colour?
You might have rushed doing the second coat.
Take it back & complain.
