I am taking out a supporting wall and have to make a support beam 142 inches long , i will be using 2X8 lumber for this and my question is ..... would this beam be stronger using 3 full pieces of 2X8 or would the beam be stronger if i used smaller pieces that are cut on an angle to put the beam together and stagger the pieces.

All I have in now is the subfloor. I want to tile the floor, so I know I need cement board on the floor, but should I put any of the fixtures in first? I'm putting in a shower, whirlpool bath, vanity, and toilet, but don't know if any of them set on top of the cement board, or if i should put them all in first and then cut the backer board to fit around them?

I would like to move the fuse panel for a two family home I own from the basement to the hallway upstairs. I have a newer, 100 amp service panel which is located 8 feet from the meter socket. The proposed location will be 45 feet from the meter. 39 feet of the conduit will be inside the house. I am unsure of the wire guage needed to run between the meter and the fuse panel. I would like to have all the materials I need on hand before the power company cuts the power for me

I am making a 25-30 gallon container water garden with a couple goldfish. I would like to have a filter/fountain in it, but where it will be is 50' from the closest electrical outlet. A solar fountain is out of budget, so I would like to run an outdoor extension cord under the ground. Years ago, my Dad ran two 100' unprotected outdoor cords between two houses and left it there for about 5 years without problems. But my situation is a little different. It will be underground, and it will be running almost constantly. Is this feasible? If so, how can I protect the plug at the pump? Electrical tape?
Thanks!

We are on a continuous feed well. We have 4 kids and 2 adults. Kids are 15 & 16 yr old girls and 8 yr girl and 3 yr old boy. Our well pump is 3/4 HP and we can run all three showers in the house at the same time and no dip in water pressure is noticed. (Not that we EVER run all 3 at once). Any suggestions on DO IT YOURSELF or have it done. Size of units. Any and all comments/suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

it seems so small & fragile but they say it works great! we have about 95-100 broilers and we are wondering if it really works. how fast does it pluck a broiler? can you butcher and pluck 95-100 all in one day using the drill plucker? all you do is just plug it into the drill (stabilize it) and keep it running?
