Hi I am looking at buying a home in Grundy VA. It will be sold to me for a cheap cost (10,000) because It is a real fixer upper. ( New floors, roof, all new appliances, plus more) The only thing I am having a problem with is there is no septic system. From what I have been told is that the house has been in the family since it was built and they lost it due to forclosur. The only septic system was contected to the neighbors house down the road but the neighbor is not wanting the new owners to use it because they are the family who use to own it and have been trying to coming up with the money to buy it for the last 3 years or so. The realitor is in the process of having the health department check to see if one can be put in. She also say we might beable to bride the neighbors into letingus use theirs. Which I really do not want to do. So here is my questions..Is there anyway I can force them to let us use it? OR is there a alternative to a septic tank ? Thanks~!!!

I have fitted roller blinds to the front of my caravan, but the window has a slope away from the inside of the frame so that the blinds hang straight down, they do not actually cover the window there is a gap of about 6inches at the bottom..
I cannot figure out a way to hold them close to the glass.
i have tried fixing them upside down, but that did not work.
I cannot fasten anything across the width as there is also a curve on the front of the van.
Any bright suggestions ?

I'm building a new garage, and I want to install a black and white checkered tile floor in a portion of it. What type of tile should I use? I know linoleum wouldn't work, it has to be a harder surface than that. I'm not looking for the interlocking rubber/plastic floor tile, I'm looking for tile that you actually glue down permanently. I wondered if asphalt tile is what I should use, but I've also heard that asphalt tile is easily softened by solvents and greases (which it is bound to see).

I just put in new laminate flooring and I'm loving it, except we chipped a couple of peices when installing it. I was told there are repair kits for such problems but I'm having trouble finding any. Do any of you know of any repair kits for laminate flooring? Links?

I am going to shingle the front half of my house. To cap the top of the roof, I am going to use 1/3 shingles. The problem is that the shingles do not flex if it is not warm outside. I live in South Dakota, and it's still chilly. How do I bend the shingles without them cracking? Also, do I use a lot of roofing cement at the roof cap?

I was pricing pole barn packages at Menards, and they claim to meet my local 30lb snow load with 30' trusses rated 39lb on 8' centers with 2x4 purlins standing on edge on 2' centers. Is this a good idea? Would the boards under the trusses be much smaller than normal because every truss is nailed to a post?
I'm wondering about buying residential trusses, rated 62lb on 2' centers, would those pass my 30lb code if I put them on 4' centers?

We're stuck on step 4. With 2 adults pulling, we're almost there, it is not reaching by like 5 cms. Is there a trick to stretch the belt further out? We've already unscrewed the motor so it's tension free, but we can't move it that much. Any help is greatly appreciated. THANKS.

I saw this on a DIY gardening segment.. the guy took some styrofoam (?) blocks, carved them out and added paint.. at the end he had something that looked just like mossy aged stone! He used them to make a really beautiful container garden. Does anyone remember seeing this/can give me more information or a link? Thank you so much!

We have a glass shower screen on our bath so that we can also have a shower. It is one that you can open to help clean the bath.

However - it has got to the point when the seal at the bottom of the screen is not water tight, so whenever we have a shower, a puddle of water collects beside the bath on the floor as it leaks between the door and the bath.

I want to still be able to open and close the screen - any ideas about what I can do to stop the leak?!

Thanks!
