Do It Yourself sonds wrong... Who agrees with me?

When I go to sort problems out, it's should have been called "Destroy It Yourself".
What a mess people can make.

A lot of work and play designations 'sound' wrong in today's world but they are the vernacular of our past up to our present.
If we started changing every word that 'sounds wrong' nowadays, we would need to rewrite more than half the words in the dictionary; a daunting, if not impossible task.
A case of the 'cure' being worse than the disease,' so to speak.
Just be thankful that guys like Spiro Agnew spouting such phrases as 'Nattering nabobs of negativism' are not in position to rewrite the dictionary.
Twenty or thirty years from now, words that fit well in today's speech will sound out of place.

me a think it sounds wrong becaus most things u do yourself are mainly dangerous and you end up diying if u mind the pun that why i was invented interior designers who do the work for you.

Probably the only people who thinks it's wrong are those who can't put a nail in the wall, or are too lazy or stupid to even think about, it.

What might sound wrong about it to you? The letters and the category suggest exactly that. People come here to question, and answer with regard to issues they want to engage in themselves, *** opposed to hiring trades people, or buying something ready made.
DIY makes perfect sense to me.

How about ABM -- all by myself? Kids say that a lot, "I'll do it all by myself!" But, really, I don't have a problem with DIY--most homeowners know what that means by now . . .

There's DIY do it yourself, DIWB do it with your buddy, DIWN do it with the neighbours, DIWG do it with your girlfriend or my favorite motto " Don't DIY if you can have somebody else do it for you tomorrow "
