Because when a person has severe depression, or sometimes schizophrenia or other mental illnesses, you're in so much distress inside your own mind that often people feel it helps to ease that distress by experiencing physical pain; often they can feel that physical pain is an easier dealt with distraction from all the confusion and hurt mentally and emotionally. Or sometimes a person in the same condition will hate themselves for feeling that way, they will feel that they are messed up or "broken" or wrong and that self-hatred can fuel self-harm. When you ask "how" and "where" it worries me. You're not thinking about harming yourself are you? If you are, DON'T DO IT. It's more harm than good, I know you might not feel that way at the time you're doing it, but trust me, it's an addictive habit just like drugs and you can seriously hurt yourself or even die because of it. For an alternative to cutting, try writing down what you're experiencing in a journal, or drawing on yourself in the place that you would cut, or cranking up some music real loud. If you're experiencing depression or other troubles, you can message me and I know websites and places where you can turn to for help. It can get better, I promise. To completely answer your question, as for the how and where, usually use a razorblade and make a small cut on the inner arm not too close to the wrists.

NO! You can find a glass cutting tool that will score the glass. It will have a ball on one end to tap the score so it will break at the score. Not all glass behaves the same and it takes a little practise. You can even cut curves and learn how to nibble away unwanted glass from the shape you wanted. Some glass cutters have a handle filled with oil to lube the wheel that cuts the glass. Stained glass hobby stores carry the best assortment of glass cutters.

Actually the word cut is wrong here because Glass cannot be cut, it is scored or scratched so as to be weak in that area then it can be broken with pressure in that score line.
