Go to some grocery stores, drug stores, liquor stores and ask the manager. Most places, if they have them, will give them to you.

If you move frequently (or even know for sure that you will move again at some point in the future) go out and buy a whole bunch of rubbermaid tote bins (the big 50L ones). The advantage is they're all the exact same size, the stack nicely, they have handles, and they store easily. I've done this and I never need any cardboard boxes when I move. Easy to pack and sturdy. Well worth the $50 I spent on about 15 totes.

Go to your local grocery store and ask for their banana boxes. Those stack perfectly and hold a reasonable amount of items as well.
Also, a Dollar store is a good place to check too (if there's one near you). They have boxes of all different sizes. You just have to try and catch them about a day after their delivery truck comes or all those boxes go in the dumpster--which they usually lock.
Best bet, just check all your local businesses. Just ask if they have any boxes that they are throwing out.
Have fun moving!!

if you don't want to go asking for boxes you can order free boxes from the post office. The flat rate boxes are free until you ship them but they are kind of small. But you can reuse them to ship Christmas or birthday gifts in later! Happy moving.

Grocery Stores and Retail Stores. Find out what days they get trucks in and take things out of the boxes... *Catch them early in the mornings because from my experience working retail we had the boxes in the crusher by afternoon.

Your local liquor store because they usually cut around the top of the box and leave thetop attached by one side. They are smaller than boxes from a grocery store and easier to carry.

I always go to liquor stores, they have lots of boxes that they are more than happy to get rid of! Also, try the grocery stores, but they usually crush all of thier boxes.

Ask the grocery stores and Wla-Mart near you. The best time is after the 3rd shift stockers are finished stocking the shelves.

If your going to get CB boxes from stores, large store, liqour stores, etc. it would be wise to call ahead to them, also another place to call would be companies in the area that manufacture, they have boxes at times, but call ahead that way they will save them for you if they can. If you don't they willl likley not be saved, and sent to the compactor.

I've gone to liquor stores and asked for their old boxes that they put the liters of wine in. Unfortunately, they are not very big, but usually they are willing to give them to you because they go in the trash anyway
