Is it better to compress the insulation and pack it in between the trusses and over the existing insulation? Or is it better to lay the rolls perpendicular to the trusses? If I pack it it, it really compresses the rolls. If I lay the rolls perpendicular, this will cause a 2"-3" gap between the layers and I'm not sure if that is the proper way to do it.

Can I run the drain to the washing machine drain? (the basement bathroom is adjacent to the laundry room.) If so, how much slope do I need in the drain? I'm hoping to not have to pay a plumber just to come over and give me an estimate and tell me how we can do it.

Thanks!!!

Granite has just been installed on our kitchen countertop. But the edges still have scratches. How can I make it as shiny as the countertop itself? Also, what is a good sealer for granite? Do I need to apply one now?

We have a load bearing wall that is exactly in the middle of our house that seperates the dining room from the living room. All of the walls in our house are block walls all the way through. In the attic, there are boards that go diagonally from the roof to where the wall is. I assume the wall is load bearing. Can the wall be removed and replaced with a column(s) to open up the space? What is the rule for how many columns I need for how long the opening is?

Want to know how far I can pump sludge in a 1" pipe? (that is what a commercial toilet sludge tank and pump uses apparently, but no one has info on specifics) Holding tank is 120 feet away and too far for a normal gravity sewer as toilet will be low flush.. Any ideas or alternatives welcomed. No it isn't possible to move the cottage or tank.

I bought a direct-vent wall furnace from Home Depot online. I've been trying to return it for over a month because the gas company would not approve it. I have tried everything I can think of to speed this up. I have called 6 times in the last 33 days & every time I call I get a different story about their policy and how long it will take to get a shipping label in mail, or to get a phone call from the trucking company that's going to pick it up.
They are really giving me the run-around on this.
And no, I can not take it to a Home Depot store, I've asked that a few times, and they can not e-mail a shipping label for me to print out.
Any suggestions on how I can handle this matter? Is there any place I can call to report them? I have even told them that I am disabled and this huge box is in my way & I keep almost falling bumping into it (that is not a lie).
Any help would be appreciated.
I couldn't find a category to put this in, hopes it's ok in this one.
