We live in a basement flat where one side of our flat is underground & against soil. These walls don't seem to get damp as such but over time the paint has been flaking very slightly. Is there any paint or sealant I can put on the walls before repainting it which may help stop it flaking?

Thanks

After 20 Years of working 9-5 my brother decided to go into business for himself. As a side job he renovated homes. Now he has made this his full-time career. His Speciality is remodling kitchens and basements, but he does it all. Electrical, Plumbing, Roofing, Drywall, Painting, Flooring. No job is too big or small. Right now he is working on a basement in which the people are paying over 50,000. Most of his Business is residental and he stays busy from word of mouth but our family would like to help him with advertising. Business Cards/Website etc... We dont have a clue- but we want something snappy- His Name is Paul Dilly. I would love feedback from the Yahoo users just think your answer may very well be the beginning to something huge. Thanks for your help.

I hired someone to install 650 sq feet of 5/8 inch thick bamboo flooring. I have just discovered the idiot did not glue it all down and certain boards are loose. Of course the scumbag has vanished! I have heard that I can use nail gun (Hilte brand can be rented from Home Depot) that would be powerful enough to go thru the wood into the concrete floor below it to correct instead of pulling the entire floor to correct and tighten all the boards. Can some confirm if this is a viable option that I can do without damage to the wood? Of course, I want to use nails with a head small enough that they won't be seen.

thanks and Happy Holidays!

It's summer here and the plaster was done a week ago, do I brush first to reduce dust?...how does one do/create a 'pissy' coat? Do I need leave for 2-3 weeks after pissy coat before more undercoats?

if I get blue plates and bowls do I need blue glasses as well? I want the clear blue glass plates...do you know what I mean? Should I get blue glasses just like that or should I get clear? Also, do you think blue is a good color for a kitchen? I was debating between blue or red. My last kitchen was red, but I've since moved & gotten divorced so I thought I might should go w/a different color. Let me know what you think please!

It looks like my walls have vertical speed-bumps running floor-to-ceiling every 4'. I have much experience in sheet-rocking, etc, but this particular time I was greatly rushed, due to reasons I won't bore anyone with, & of course - as should've been expected - it looks absolutely horrible. You wouldn't believe the difference from the high-points to the 'flat' of the un-compounded part of the walls. Can all the semi-gloss paint & compound be removed down to the tape so I can start again? I don't care about how much I have to rip everything up. I'll do whatever it takes w/o actually taking down the sheet-rock itself. I have the tools, patience, & time, & need of this particular room is not critical. It's so bad that if my walls were streets, your car would crash. The rest of the work I did in my house is perfect & I intend to do a perfect job the 2nd time around like I did the 1st time everywhere else.
The wall that I'm looking to fix is an adjoining/common wall to another room. Construction is wood beam spaced the usual 16" apart.
Thanks very much.

Wondering if anyone knew of some sites that have 800 thread count WHITE queen size sheets, either Egyptian Cotton or Cotton, no Sateen or anything. Also in a reasonable price range, nothing outrageous.

Any help and sites are appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Would actually like to find someone to do it, as my previous cleaner person no longer does this service. My chandelier looks like something from Disney's Haunted Mansion ride.
