Those above are right...your tree probably is having a hard time soaking-up water. The most common reason is that the sap has run a bit or the end has dried out which will block the water from being absorbed.
Now, the real trick is doing something about it. You could always pull the tree from the stand and cut off the end but I'm going to assume that you already have it decorated by now so that might not be so easy. Another thing you could do is loosen the clamps on the tree and raise it just enough so that you can drill some holes in the trunk that will be below the water line. They don't have to go all the way through the trunk but you would probably want 5-10 all the way around the trunk. Obviously you'll need two people to do this but it may be easier and a little safer than pulling the whole tree out.
If you can't reasonably do either one of these, just keep watering it like you've been doing and make sure that the water never runs dry . As long as your tree wasn't in bad shape when you bought it, it should be okay until Christmas.

Before you put it in water did you cut an inch off the stem where the tree was cut? Sometimes between them chopping down the tree and you getting it home the bottom seals up, so the tree doesn't lose moisture [but at the same time it can't draw moisture in either] If this happened, that's why it's not drawing in water... happens with cut flowers too.

Always trim a little off the bottom of the trunk before putting it in the stand. A tree that has developed a "dried end" to prevent it from bleeding sap will not be able to soak up water.
A fresh trim allows water to soak up into the tree.

Saw off about 2-3inches or more if you can off the bottom of the tree. The tree sap seals the end of the tree that is cut and it can't drink.. Hope it helps... Merry Christmas!!!!

Did you cut a piece off the bottom, before putting it in the stand? If not, that is your reason. The tree forms a seal over the bottom and has to have a fresh cut, to drink in the water.

Trim the trunk - at least 3 inches off and immediately place it in water. Do not let the container dry out or it will stop drinking again.

My tree did the same thing. I just started peeing on it everyday after work and it started drinking again.
