Either acrylic or enamel is good to use but you would have been wise to spend a little more on a quality paint. The hardware store's house brands don't seem to cover as well as the major brands.

There are 2 types of paint, one is oil base the other is water base. Oil base is turpentine or mineral spirits clean up, it is self levelling and used mainly for doors, baseboards, bathroom and kitchen walls and cupboards because of its durability. Water base is water clean up and much easier to use, but not as durable. A bed room wall is not a good place to use oil base paint, (which I think you are calling enamel) Enamel is a finish, like egg shell, egg shell being the most dull and less durable, enamel being the shiniest and most durable. The best for paint for a bedroom wall is the next up from egg shell (check store, different manufactures call them different names) AND USE A GOOD QUALITY PRIMMER they now claim that a good primer is more important than the paint itself, and for a good job I find it true.
