A few years ago I knocked out my living room wall and enlarged it by enclosing the front porch. That added about 5 feet out, with a wide of about 17 feet. Since we didn't want to change of roof line the 5'X17' has a dropped ceiling, about 18 inches lower than the rest of the room. Does anyone know of a website about installing Crown Moulding where you don't have four corners that are on the same level? Or even painting the room with the ceiling being white and the walls a color? I have kept the room one color all these years and its time for a change. Thank you.

Hi everyone,
I have just bought a beautiful 1930's white bungalow, it is really full of character and I want to keep it that way. My question is: Does anyone have any ideas on a colour scheme for the living room so that it blends in with the style of the house ? I am really stuck, it is a light cream colour at the moment, but I would like to put " my mark" on it . Any ideas ? I'm not keen on art deco so any advice will be fully appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help .

Hi,

I'm purchasing a new house and I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas on what color wood I should pick for the blinds to match the rest of the house. Right now we haven't picked flooring yet, so I want to match the blinds with the cabinates which are Maple. I was thinking a lighter color wood. Anyone have some suggestions?

Thanks

Hey everyone, my kitchen counter top was painted by the previous owners. The current colour won't work with what I want to do with the walls and I can't afford to replace the whole counter. Is there an inexpensive alternative? Could I paint over it again? If so is there a product out there that will be durable enough? Thanks

We have plaster walls. In a couple rooms, there is chipped paint, which my youngest child has been so kind to expand. I don't have the time or sanity to scrape the entire room's walls - plus it won't come off at all in certain spots. Do I just use spackling to smooth it over or do I really have to chisel my life away? Please say no.....

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to cover an octagon window I have in my bathroom? The window itself is leaded glass with a flower design and some parts of the flower is frosted glass. I still feel like you can see through it even though parts are frosted. Any ideas???

Preparing Grandma's house for sale. The ranch has 1 bathroom about 14 foot by 5 foot. Currently it has a sink with a 4 foot counter. Would the house be easier to sell if it had two sinks with "some" counter top space around them? The counter, with sinks, measures 4' by 2'. I'm thinking with a single bathroom the function of a second sink may help, but the sink area may be too small with two bowls.

The house is 40 years old.

Thanks.

I'm decorating my fiance's house and he said to do whatever I wanted to. And I'm going to do the bedroom in Lavender, pink, and yellow with a seashell like theme. I'm totally into interior design and these are my favorite colors. What do you guys think? Would he like it?

Well, me and my husband are building house and my brother does custom cabinents. well we got a bid from him and another place. I really like the cabinents from the other place and my brother has been doing cabinents now for about a year and doesnt do some of the things I want in my kitchen. and the styles he does are not the same as what I had picked out at the other cabinent shop. So he could make different ones and I like them but i like the other ones too. what would you do or say if you wanted to go through the other place to get them. I dont want to hurt his feelings but I really like the other ones more? Would you just go with him or tell him you want to go with someone else.

I'm looking for a statue that looks like a little Butler, made of ceramic, holding a little tray. I want to find it preferably in a store, but if I find one online, I would get it if its cheap (less than 100). Does anyone know where to get one?

replaced them with a Convection Oven, Stove Top only, and a refrigerator that is either drawers built in or a non-traditional fridge that is wider, narrower in it's depth and about 6' tall for easier access and to fit into a spot better? We want to change our kitchen to coordinates like above but need advice before we start.

So, I decided I wanted to change the color of my formal living room to a dark red and gold in honor of the fall season approaching. I went to Home Depot and got the colors that I liked and came home to paint, well...I didn't get enough red so I went back to Home Depot.

The color I got is sold out. Great, right? I bought a color that I THOUGHT would be right and now there is a huge spot of red on my wall that doesn't match and the color I selected is no where to be found. I've already painted half of my living room that color and that room is huge.

What do I do????

we have an attached garage with 3 storage rooms also attached to the garage on our house the problem is we want to bring the level of the garage up about 5 inches to the same level as the slab our house is on when we get a massive amount of rain the water creeps in i guess what i'm wondering is if it is possible to do this without having to tear down the whole garage to add the extra cement or can it be done without having to tear anything down??
