Or do you just use a regular sized one? It seems like it would be all bunched up if I use the standard size, but I am having a hard time finding a smaller sized one?

very unique angles that are making it hard to figure out my furniture placement. the room is an L- shaped with the fireplace a little to the right of the bottom part of the L ( hope this makes sense i wish i could draw the layout). I had been thinking of making the fireplace a focal point but it doesn't seem possible and so far all i have come up with is dividing the room in two sections.Maybe a tv area and a reading area but i don't want the fireplace to disappear. Any ideas will be GREATLY APPRECIATED on how i can arrange and decorate. Also what colors would work to make the room warm and inviting. Thanks everyone.

When my Grammy died years ago, she left this to me in her will. It´s still in the cloth wrapping-can I do something with it, besides hanging it, to display?

Ok, I already have a brand new faucet for the bathroom sink that I picked up last year for very cheap on clearance. It's color is polished brass. Now I am in need of a shower head and handle to match. The only problem is that polished brass is not a popular color and is very pricey. Also, our vanity handles are a dull gold color. I have found a color called brushed bronze, which is a dull gold as well. I was thinking about just buying a new sink fixture and then a shower one in the brushed bronze, since I feel it looks nicer than the shiny gold. But, would it be silly to buy a new sink faucet, when I already have one? My husband thinks we should just get a polished brass shower kit to save money. Would using the brushed bronze increase the value of our home at all, or should I just save money and go with the polished brass?

Outside front entry way has a very tall white iron gate with an Asian look. This gate opens into a small courtyard with a cement pepple floor. The inside of home is decorated with an Asian flare.
Want something that is peaceful, yet eye catching. Any ideas?

I am moving in October and would like to buy new living room furniture. Basically I would like a sofa, chair, some type of tables (but not committed to anything). ottoman and TV armoire. Because I bought all of this only a few years ago, I don't want to go overboard, but want something modern and comfortable. And of course not too expensive.

I am moving within my current appartment complex to basically the same apartment just one that has been updated (new windows, hardwoods refinished, kitchen and bathroom). The problem is that I want the apartment to look different than the one I have now. The apartment is small, 2 beds, 1 bath, tiny kitchen and dining area. If this gives you any idea they used to be ARMY barracks. I am considering buying new living room furniture, but is there other things that I can do to make the space look different? And some ideas of how to make my 10X15 living room double as a living and dining space. I really would like to make my dining room into an office.

Hey everyone. I'm in a bit of a color scheme quandry. My girlfriend and I currently have three of these bookcases lining one wall of our living room:

http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?level=SK&id=836264

We've both always like the black finish and preferred the bookshelves to a home entertainment piece. However, we're now looking into a new couch and coffee table and we're having trouble pairing everything together.

The room will consist of the aforementioned bookshelves, a red accent chair, a sofa and the coffee table. We both really like this sofa from West Elm:

However, the coffee table they suggest with it, while stylish and simple, is a dark shade of brown we're afraid will clash with the bookshelves:

I have seen so many conflicting opinions on the internet about putting a laminate floor down in the kitchen. Our tile in the kitchen has broken in many places, so I'm not sure I want to go with tile again. I'm interested to know what others' opinions are about the best type of flooring for a kitchen. I'd appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks.

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone knows any great ideas on how to make a ceiling look like it has beams in it, but not actually put up those huge, heavy beams.

I want to put it on an existing ceiling, so it isn't like they can actually be built in. Besides, I don't want something so heavy hanging up there when it isn't built in.

So, how can I do it? I would prefer a way that is relatively low cost and that could possibly be done myself, but I could get someone to help me if I needed more than 2 hands.

Thank you and I will look forward to finding out what information there is on this.

2 bedrooms 10x10
1 room 12x20

They all need to be painted white. Some walls are currently red, blue, gray, yellow. Under the circumstances, they must be painted professionally. Thanks.

There are no broken windows to replace, so I'm assuming the original glazier points are still holding the panes in. We just need to reglaze/putty/caulk the windows as they're crumbling.

Wanted opinions. The room is full of dark furniture, full of books. One wall is covered in images. That leaves 4 unpainted walls (it's an odd shaped room) and a window. Any ideas?

We have a very rough looking tile floor in our bathroom, it's cracked in several places. We'd like to lay laminate tiles over the tile. 1) is this possible (we're not worried about taking it up to get to the tile) 2) how should we best prepare the ceramic tile to lay the laminate?

thank you!

What colour kitchen/granite should i choose? It's a choice between cream shaker units with either cream or stainless steel rangemaster cooker & matching american fridge freezer with venition gold or galaxy black granite worktops. Or light oak shaker units with stainless steel rangemaster cooker plus matching american fridge freezer with galaxy black granite work tops? Good size kitchen, floor will be light wood. Thank you.
