My question is what color should I paint the kitchen living room and hallway and office as they all "flow" into each other. I want something relaxing but warm and invitng at the same time. So give me some ideas. PLEASE!!!!

My furniture is non exsistant. Just a hodge podge of stuff that I have. My favorites are a dark brown wicker chair, and an antique chair that was my Great grandmothers. It has dark brown wood and is apolstered in a "coral" colored pink. My fav piece of funrniture above all is this primitve hutch that my hubby built me that i painted black and antiqued. My cabinets are going to be a medium stained colored oak. And my floors are dark brown. Living room has lots of natural light kitchen will have more once the window is replaced with a much larger one and the hall has only ceiling light. Ultimatly we want chocolate brown leather furniture.

BTW my fav magazine is country sampler. So most of my little accents are similar to those found in that magazine.

Aloha from Down Unda!
The correct answer for interior spaces is certainly flat white! It best reflects light, it's bright, non depressing, crisp, easy to clean, maintain & touchup is always easy.
If you get bored with it, replace a picture on the wall, replace the drapes or furnishings but the color of all the walls should always be flat white! Not RobinEggBlue, Not Eggshell, Not Mauave, Not Canary Yellow, it's WHITE! Period! Face it! Nuff said!

One thing I've learned from decorating my house is that contrasting colors really make a house look great.

For instance, what furniture you have and want to get is going to be fairly dark in color. To make the house look good, you want to show that furniture off and make it as much of a focal point for a person's eyes as you can. Think about if you have dark furniture and dark walls. Would the furniture stand out real well against the wall? No, it wouldn't. So to make the furniture stand out use a light to medium tone of paint.

You really could use almost any color as long as you keep it to a light or medium tone. If I was going to make a suggestion on a specific color, I'd recommend one that I saw recently while watching the Oprah show. They were redecorating a place to help the couple be able to sell their place that wasn't selling. I believe the color was called "Warm Plum" or something like that. And the paint came from Lowe's.

I went to Lowe's website and looked up their paints. Below is the address.

If you look in the Ultra Premium Colors there are two colors that I really like that remind me of the color I saw on Oprah, although these two colors may be totally different.

The colors are:

Coral Gable, 2003-2B
Sassy Peach, 2003-2A

I think a soft warm buttery yellow would accent the furniture nicely, especially the coral color.

I'd love to help you but need your help first...

What colour is your hardwood flooring? What colour is your kitchen cabinetry? What colour furniture is in these rooms? Do you have a lot of natural light coming in to these areas of your home?

Any light tan heading towards the brown family would work nice. Pick a light/bright one though.

I would look at samples of the sage green family and also taupes. They are considered neutrals yet add snap to your decor. I chose 3 variants of sage in my last house and it was subtle and beautiful.
