Placement may depend on the type of air purifier you are using, the size of room and quality of air you are trying to clean. Check with the manufacturer first for any specific placement instructions and recommendations.

Here are some general guidelines:

- place close as possible to the source of the pollution, especially if used in a large room
- leave enough room for air flow around the unit (at least a foot all around)
- place in a well ventilated area of the room to assist speedy and effective air cleaning
- keep away from curtains and anything that could get caught in suction grill
- don't allow any other appliances, such as a fan, to blow directly on to the purifier
- experiment with height of placement - sometimes can be effective to place up on a shelf if using an ionizer purifier
- keep well away from anything that could cause interference, such as tv's, radio etc.
- keep out of reach of small children and pets to prevent unit accidentally being knocked over, or tripping over cords.

If space is a real issue, you could try a compact purifier that plugs straight into the wall. Here is one suggestion, http://www.topbuys.com.au/natural-air-50-compact-indoor-purifier-na-50.aspx

no, don't put them into a tight corner. They need to be out away from the walls a bit........24 inches or more if you can handle that. Yes, plopping it into the center of the room would be idea......but silly.

If the room is open to another room it is hard to clean the area. If you can close off the room with the purifier, they work better.

Put your air purifier up as high as possible to get maximum air circulation. If you have a small box type air purifier on top of a book case or on top of a coffee table would be an ideal spot. You do not want to place them too close to walls or loose curtains as they may become blocked.

Put it in a corner on an angle facing the center of the room. That way it will be able to draw in more air.

find a central spot near a large piece of furniture like the tv stand, a sofa, recliner chair, bed, etc. you can even hide it underneath something like a table or stand since air is only circulating from the sides and not the top. they usually arent loud or to big so it should be easy to cover it up by hiding near a large object that usually sits in the center of a room or a central location. good luck!
