I'm painting my room and im planning on having a white ceiling with one white wall facing the windows. The rest of the walls will be a light apricot color. I want my small room to appear bigger and brighter (the two windows are small too). Oh and I also dont want it to look plain . Any suggestions?

I have a home I am starting to remodel to resale in midwest, average priced home in market, it has nice parqet floors in it already. Do you think most people find parqet floors a turn off and dated? What about leaving the Living Room, Kitchen and Dinning with the Parqet. Bedrooms all have nice Hardwoods, will tile all the bathrooms.

I have a room without a lighting fixture in it. Instead of fishing the wiring through the wall i was wondering if it was possible to put the wiring on the outside of the wall with some kind of protection over it. I have seen it done many times in old historical homes, but i don't know what it is called or if it is even done anymore

The space is a duplex apartment with basically two loft-style floors. We would be creating 3 bedrooms out of this space- so we would need approximity 4 walls with 3 doors built. I'm not sure of the exact dimensions but figure each wall would be about 10 feet long and 8 feet high. Since we are on a tight budget we would be looking to do this as cheap as possible. If we hired someone to do this work, around how much would it cost, and how long would it take? Thanks!

I just signed a lease for an apartment and I love it. My only major problem is this HIDEOUS seafoam green/50's diner mint green wall. It looks a lot like this color: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_green. 3 walls have wood paneling (medium/light brown). They currently have a darker green area rug in the room, which I can store if I don't like. There is also a smaller room painted in this color.
I begged to paint the walls white and they said no. Unfortunately, I have to leave the walls this color...what in the WORLD can I do to make this room look cool, fun, but not tacky? I can't go too modern, since the kitchen right off the room is decorated in a country style (wooden cabinets, wallpaper with sunflowers and crows, etc).

Any ideas for something fun, comfortable, and not too horribly kitschy? Thanks!

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew where I can buy mini blinds on line in the United States, that is a size 26'W, 84'L?? They are really hard to find, and the places that I have look do not carry them, such as: Walmart and Kmart.
Thanks.

I am having a bathroom remodeled and the contractor that did the ceramic floor, put down wood baseboards and then durock before installing the ceramic tile. He then grouted everything, but he didn't grout or do anything around the edge of the bathroom where the floor meets the wall. When I asked about this to another of the contractors, he said that that area would be covered with the shoe molding and didn't need to be grouted. Is this true. Is this common practice or should the very edges of the rooom be grouted too or caulked or something. Is this just a matter of preference among contractors or did they miss a step?

I have started to carpet shop, b/c I am finishing my basement. The salesman was really pushing Frieze carpeting, but I was thinking about getting plush. What are the pros and cons between the two types of carpeting?? I have a toddler and 2 dogs, if that makes a difference. I am looking for something soft, cushy, durable and affordable.

I'm moving into my first apartment, and I really have no idea how to decorate the bathroom. I usually think themed rooms are tacky; however, I'm on a limited budget and did stumble across this one at target: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/602-7554679-7303036?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000HZBOHQ
Do you all like that one? My walls are an off white/bone kind of color, so I don't want to get the white matching towels.. What color towels should I hang? And also, if you have any other ideas let me know, cause I'm definitely not dead set on this one yet.

My friend just moved into an apartment and it has the grossest ala 1970 linoleum on the walls. She doesnt want to put any money into the place, but I thought if she could paint over it it would really make it so much nicer.

I'm off to a place where I will have to spend about a week sleeping not in a bed but on the floor, Anyone have any product ideas or suggestions that may make the time on the floor more comfortable? I hate to say this but I know already of the egg shell type foam mattress pad thing, I'm looking for something different than these as I just would rather buy one thick thing than several nearly think things. Savy? and thanks in advance!

i'm a 13 year old girl and i'm re-doin my room. i have 2 ideas but need your opinion and ideas. Idea 1:i use color theme of blues and turquoises. and an underwater shell theme. i'd have shells all over and an aquarium fish thing. Idea2:i use color theme of all shades of pink and paint my walls light pink and have bedding that's light pink and magenta and dark pink and have pink decorative things. Other details: i have a cherry wood desk, vanity, and drawers but there's white built-ins in the room. i need a head board/bed, bedding, and any decorative things, and a chair/chaise longe to go by my window. I have a queen matress. i want one thing in my room that's unique and cool like a mini fridge or a big aquarium on a shelf etc. either pick one of the above ideas and say why u picked it or give me a website with some cool ideas or your ideas. i'm worried that i'll grow out of a theme so i wanna make it last through my teen yrs. thanks in advance♥♥♥

My hubby and I have our queen-size bed on an angle in the corner of the room. So there's a big cavernous triangular space behind it. I want to do something dramatic in that space or on the walls to frame the bed, but don't have any good ideas! We have a small wood headboard on our bed already. Any ideas???

I'm painting my bedroom and I want to paint it just a plain red. When all my walls are painted, I will get a white bedspread and white dresser and white shutters. I am going to get gold pillows because I think gold and red look really well together. Do you think red is going to make my room look disgusting and dark and dull? Advice needed please. Thank you in advance.
