I worked for a lumber company for 15 years, 4 of which were in the kitchen and bath design department. Corian all the way!
There are numerous reasons why, but here is a big one:
5 times I was called out to job sites for damaged counter tops. One was a beautiful granite top. The home owner's son was standing on the edge of their granite counter top (who knows why) and it broke. 2 options, glue it back on or replace the entire top. Obviously, they opted to glue it back on. Even with the filler added to the wide gaps caused by missing pieces, it was the ugliest thing you'd ever seen. In the same situation, a Corian counter top I sold to a customer was accidentally dropped and broke in half at the job site. Keep in mind that Corain can only be installed by trained contractors. Well, within 3 hours, they had the counter top repaired. The beauty of Corian is that whether it is broken, scratched, or even burned, it can be repaired and I assure you that no one will ever be able to find where the damage occurred! Then there are all the options you get with Corian, but my fingers would cramp if I continued with everything.

Since they are all upper-end materials, it is probably a matter of which look do you like? We have had granite for maybe 5 years now and I do not feel that it is a high maintenance material, at all. I seal it a few times a year; that's it. My husband makes salsa a lot and it is not stained from tomatoes or anything else. I love it. We had formica before and that stuff is awful. We have granite in our bathrooms, too. The only bad thing I can say about it is that any glassware will definitely shatter when it connects with the countertop, no matter at what angle it hits!

Corian is man made material and has good resistance to chemicals.

Granite and quartz looks very rich but is also high maintainence and chemicals may ruin its looks. Even juices from Tomatoes and lemon can spoil its finish. I would say you can check out other surfaces like concrete which can be finished with a gloss it looks very nice. It is a contemporary style.

My vote is for the quartz or granite. We are currently remodeling our kitchen and are trying to decide between the two.

My friend and sister has granite. It's excellent, no scratches - but costs a holy fortune! Nice shine of it too.
