The clutter of all the shells will get to you because they are dust and bug collectors. Keep it simple, life is complicated enough at your age. Try some calming colors like a celery or sage green on on wall and a soft blue on the others. Blend some gray or soft peach accents, bedspread, rug, and you will find yourself enjoying the peace and quiet of your room.
An aquarium is a nice thought, but the bubbling noises from the motor, and the cleaning is a pain ( I used to have a 60 gallon one, and got rid of it fast). Some lava lamps for soft lighting would be neat too. Keep your room uncluttered, put your clothes and such in 3 or 4 drawer plastic containers inside your closet under the hanging clothing. Get rid of large pieces of furniture. Put a long mirror on a wall and a painting or picture of a beach scene on another wall you can look at.
Enjoy your room!

haha my current room doesn't really have a color theme, but i'm moving soon so i'm already planning my new room! i LOVE interior design! my room right now is in an apartment, so i can't paint the walls. instead, i added a bunch of colorful stuff like curtains, pictures, bed sheets, rug, etc. but my new room would hopefully have a much more organized theme. maybe do both? like for example, you could have brown and teal as your main theme (super cute idea by the way!), like brown walls and teal curtains and like brown+teal polka dotted bed set, and then you could add some yellow accents like pillows, pictures/wall decorations, or maybe a bean bag? another theme that i think is really cute is lime green, or pink/black/white. hope i helped! have fun in your new room!

I crackled my walls white, and I have touches of aqua everywhere, with the beach theme. I even found an old beach painting at a garage sale.
My curtains are really two shower curtains, a brown suede turned backwards for the silky side put under a more see through tan silk one with lace, its breath taking, my sisters love my room.
My husband made me a headboard I sponge painted aqua then put sparkles in the paint, then I nailed a big aqua cross on it, its so beautiful.
I like your first idea, go with it, its calming and soothing to look at a ocean theme.

Paint the walls one color, I used a light sage green, but use your favorite color, but paint the ceiling white, not bright white, but a soft off white and then put up crown moulding. This moulding makes a world of difference and its very inexpensive to buy. I painted the moulding bright white semi gloss and the ceiling off white flat and the walls flat. The closet doors the same as the ceiling (white) and my bedspread an off white with yellow flowers and green leaves. Sure looks nice and matches well.

ok, i did my room brown (a really nice colour) but on the wall with windows i accented it by using a colour from the same palette, but a darker one. it came out really nice!! my friend did blue, gree, and orange all on different walls. with her closet painted black as a chalk board. also, i love your underwater theme. if you choose that one, get a little fountain that can sit on your bureau to have a running water sound to make your room feel more underwater! :)
