They are not hard to put together, just very time consuming. I highly recommend getting someone to help you, even if it's one person to read the instructions to you while you assemble the pieces.

I'd much rather buy a pre assembled one or a used one that put another one together.

You don't have to have an electric screwdriver, but it makes it much easier.

If you haven't bought one already, don't buy one. They are really complicated to put together and if you screw up even the slightest bit, the rest of it is screwed with it.

There are about a thousands parts in most desks, and the directions are very ambiguous in telling you what to do. And its so easy to loose one little part that is so important, and a lot of the other parts look alike so its easy to misplace things.

So I wouldn't recommend it unless someone whose done it several times before helps you. It takes easily several hours and the whole process is really stressful.

Electric screwdriver/drill helps on the bigger parts. But they could also be too powerful and crack the wood. Eventhough the holes are pre drilled, the screwdrives can still have to much punch and crack the wood. And they give you the basic tools with the pieces for the desk.

Most are not hard to put together. Some of the directions are lacking but can be figured out. You do not have to use an electric screwdriver. All the holes are predrilled and the screws go in easily. You just need to take it slow and try and follow the instructions. A helper is nice too depending on the size of the unit.

Yes and no to all of your questions.

My sweetie husband bought a DIY large desk and he says it was on the hard size because the pieces were heavy and he did not have anyone to help hold the pieces in place. He used a regular screwdriver to turn the inter-locking pieces.
