Our basement had 4 light fixtures and I took them down and split both ends, the white and black wire and capped them. I needed to do this to do the 2 x 2 wood frames in prepartion for new can lighting and drywall on the ceiling. My question is, since these wires are still hot is it ok to leave them like that? They are looped over conduit and cannot move. Thanks! We should be chaning them out very soon.

I installed some textured paintable wallpaper over another layer of priming wallpaper. I used KILZ primer on the underpaper, then painted. Everywhere except for one spot at the bottom of one of the sheets stuck well. But this one sheet has bubbles that I have tried repasting. Any ideas on how to fix this other than to hang something over it?

i recently installed a black slate counter-top in my kitchen as the first stage of a kitchen reno. my faucets are chrome and the sink is stainless-steel. the ceiling is made of metal embossed tiles but has been painted over numerous times (currently white). theres no room for a table and chairs but there is a small eating nook with a built-in bench on either side (I would like to upholster these benches--fabric ideas?) the walls are about 9' high. theres a 1 foot high baseboard and a large crown molding at the ceiling. the floor is a mid-brown (tobacco) colored hardwood which i dont want to cover. the cabinets are wood which has also been painted many times and are now a dingy beige color. (I believe they are the original cabinets). the house is a art-deco style circa 1922, so i would kind of like to be authentic to that style, but a few modern touches might be nice as well. I dont want anything fussy or cluttered or floral patterns. wall colors? cabinet colors? help

I'm 15. I HATE all those girly colors that girls my age "supposedly" go crazy over. I always like having a sophisticated look in my bedroom. My fave colors are red and blue. I just moved into this house... so... any help?

I want to hang curtains at double french doors. I have drilled a little hole with a masonary bit but it won't go in the wall very far. Sounds like i'm hitting metal so i suspect there is a lintle over the doors. If i drill through the lintle with metal drill bits will it weaken the lintle. It is only one little hole, at the other side i seem to be able to manage with a masonary bit.

They are not the best of cabinets of course but they have solid wood frames and doors. Everything else is particle board. I'm not looking to spend that much because I'm going to be moving from the house in a couple of years anyway.

I dont like suspened ceilings (Drop ceilings). I need some alternative ideas for basement ceilings that are inexpensive. The finished basement is going to be a game room with big leather club chairs, pool table, bar, and it has a nice fireplace.

I have these great "block out" curtains on my big living room window but they are just blah brown...my colors are more dark chocolate, sand and deep red. The curtains are great for reducing glare and keeping my living room private but they are boring...any ideas to change them into something more WOW!?

I have an old '50's-style bathroom with GREEN ceramic tile bordered in black (ugh!) on the walls in the tub and vanity area, as well as small green mosaic-style tile on the floor. I hate it! I'd LOVE to paint the bathroom all white. The tiles are in pretty good condition. Is there any easy way to paint over them and not have the paint come off ? What kind of paint would I use?

Does microfiber upolstery clean easily against pet fur?
Do cats tear up the fabric by choice?
Do cat tears show up easily with microfiber?
Do pet stains clean easily?

I have generally good cats, but a bad mark in the wrong place would ruin a good sofa.
