My boyfriend and I live in a small apartment. It gets messy easily. Everything has a place, and eventually I can take care of it, but it just gets so tiring! He works a lot, yesterday 12 hours, and today had to be at work by 4 am. He is exhausted when he comes home, so I usually do the cleaning. Any simple advice or encouragement? Perhaps something I had not thought about? Most of the mess is papers he doesn't want to be thrown out, clothes that never end up in the laundry basket, and dishes that we are too exhausted to take to the sink after dinner.

Also, we do not have a vaccuum, and we have a lot of carpet. What to do? We have very little money... Thanks!

I recently got some books out of my storage room and a lot of them smelled musty due to some moisture. Is there any easy way to get the smell out. I tried sitting outside for a few days to air out, but not much help.

I have a purely orange polo shirt, but I have nothing else in my wardrobe close to that color (yellow?), and I'm worried about putting it with my whites (I have very few darks that need washing) and having it put a tinge of orange in all my clothes (from what I've heard and seen in TV). Do I have no choice but to wash it separately, or is it still ok to put it in with the rest of the wash?

(This is a little glass front case that held small momentos... the only "degradable" things were a bit of fabric and some candied almonds. I think the odor was possibly caused by something used to preserve the cabinet from woodworm but have no way to be sure. There are a few black stains inside that didn't wash away with flax soap and after I washed it I closed a dish of baking soda inside hoping to absorb the odor. That not working I put a jar of cloves inside hoping to, at least, cover the smell but also this to no avail.)

Please help.

I have three GIANT piles of stuff. It literally takes up a 2 1/2 car garage leaving just walking room from the door leading into the house to the side door and the big garage door to that walkway (in the middle).

The back pile consists of LOTS of toolboxes, giant toolbox-type storage bins (3), old bikes, big box-carrying pusher things (like the restockers in a hospital would use), and some empty storage bins.

The left section of my garage is mostly boxes from when I moved into my house (six years ago). The boxes used to be neatly stacked, but have been fallen over. There is also an old microwave, a record player (don't know if it works), old speakers, and a baby crib.

The right pile is a HUGE MESS!!! There is a ladder, a childrens swimming pool, boxes, Literally buckets and buckets of little brass plumbing parts (my grandpa was a plumber - he died when I was one, now I'm sixteen). We got my grandma's house when I was 9. We also have JUNK. Theres Buried stuff I don't know abt.

I own some rental properties. i have these tenants that brought in bed bugs in thier used box spring. they had a bunch of these critters in the apt. unit. i had the place exterminated and then i called my attorney and he said to write a notice saying that they cannot bring used furniture unless it is cleaned. i put the notice on thier door and then got a call from my tenants. i know that they brought the bed bugs as i have never had bed bugs in any of my four units. my tenants are threatening to take me to court, but THEY brought the bed bugs!
what should i do?

I just bought a new front load washer and dryer and it recommends H.E soap. Do you HAVE to use that? I just bought a big ol' bottle of Tide and it would be a shame not to be able to use it ;P

Whenever I dry my clothes outside they get really stiff. I've used liquid fabric softeners but that doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?

The apartment that I am about to move into does not have a laundry facility or hook-ups. I am curious toknow if there are any that do not require this. Please do not answer my questions with warnings about moving into a place like this. I know what a pain it is going to be but with my budget it is the only choice.
