I recently got some books out of my storage room and a lot of them smelled musty due to some moisture. Is there any easy way to get the smell out. I tried sitting outside for a few days to air out, but not much help.

I read that you can sprinkle baby powder into the pages and it will remove the odor. . .

Sprinkle baby powder and baking soda on the bottom of a clean box. Place a single sheet of paper towels over the mixture. Open each book and put the uncovered box in an area near fresh air like a window on a day with low humidity.

Don't air the books in the sunlight because the sun can damage the paper pages. It's never a good idea to spray anything directly on the books.

For books that are not priceless, you can pack a scented dryer pad in a clean box with the books. The biggest storage problems with books are direct sun, high humidity, hot temperatures, glue worms that stain or mark the pages and bindings. Attics and basements are not good choices for book storage.

Activated charcoal or baking soda will soak up the scent. positioned the e book in a cardboard field and fill a field with the two baking soda or activated charcoal putting it interior the field. flow away it for a week or so and the scent will flow away. in spite of the undeniable fact that, if the previous e book had mildew or mildew spores (look for little black dots), positioned it out interior the warmth of the sunlight or interior the dryer on the gentle rack making particular air can flow all around it. the warmth will kill the spores, then paintings on removing the scent. If the e book is a collectable, do no longer moist it or use fabrics softener sheets as you will devalue it. The softener sheets flow away a residue which will yellow as does any liquid.
