I just bought a new front load washer and dryer and it recommends H.E soap. Do you HAVE to use that? I just bought a big ol' bottle of Tide and it would be a shame not to be able to use it ;P

Don't use your regular Tide. Now for the reason WHY: All front loading, and a few top loading, washers, use small, high speed, water pumps. When these pumps are called on to pump, the very small pump will turn very fast trying to move as much water as its much larger, older cousins. If there is even the slightest amount of SUDS-MAKING detergent in the water, the small pump will instantly turn the water to suds, thus locking down the pump. The washer will sense this lock down, thus shutting down the washer with an LD (long drain) or SL (suds lock) code. Sorry. Lose the Tide. The HE detergent is more expensive, will NOT make suds, but will keep you out of hot water.

You DEFINITELY need to use the HE soap. Some people will tlel you that you can just use half the amount of regular soap. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM! When I bought a high efficiency washer, the salesperson told me that. Luckily I had the 5 year warranty, because I went through 2 water pumps in the 1st year. Finally one of the service men noticed what kind of detergent was in my laundry room and set me straight. If you have a lot of regular tide, see if a friend will buy some HE detergent and trade you. It costs the same amount, but I think there is slightly less in the HE container.

I particularly have a Duet. i do no longer use softener, so i won't be in a position to assert precisely, yet I particularly have observed each and every so often that if I pull the dispenser "drawer" out greater some distance the water that has accrued interior the bleach (and softener?) sections will unexpectedly drain out. Oh, and a heads up--except they have replaced the formulation interior the final couple years, are not getting the Kirkland HE unfastened liquid detergent. that's *no longer* HE! It develop into in all probability the sudsiest detergent i've got ever used, such as non-HE formulation. It completely locked up my gadget interior the suds cycle.
