The apartment that I am about to move into does not have a laundry facility or hook-ups. I am curious toknow if there are any that do not require this. Please do not answer my questions with warnings about moving into a place like this. I know what a pain it is going to be but with my budget it is the only choice.

if you have the space, you can buy portable washer/dryer that can be hooked up to the kitchen sink.
regular washers/dryers require the traditional hookups. the only difference that could be is gas or electric for a dryer.

Many new apartments are designed to not accept laundry appliances. It is true there are portable washers that can be used in the kitchen by connecting to the sink. However, they're the same size as a portable dishwasher and this size would have to be factored into your living space. The dryers are more demanding. They require a vent that will be removing heat, moisture and lint, three things that MUST be removed. While it's true there are stackable units, these units (dryer mounted on top of washer) take up precious space PLUS require cold and hot water in, drain out, 120VAC hook-up for the washer and vent out and 240VAC hook-up for the dryer. Lastly, even in larger apartments furnished WITH all the hook-ups, these stackable units aren't always feasible. Use the apartment-furnished laundromat.

There are washer and dryers called stack-ables. They can usually be purchased at a used appliance store. They hook up to a faucet such as a kitchen sink. They plug to a regular outlet. They are for small loads like you will probably have if you are by yourself. I had one in college and it was a lifesaver. Hope this helps you and enjoy your little apartment, they can be as cozy as a big house.

I have found that many apartment buildings do not include laundry facilities. The owners have found that too many renters abuse the machines. Human nature not to care about something you do not own. It is not required to provide this service anywhere I know of. Same goes with television hook-ups.

Been there, done that!.......There are simple and cheap adapters available that will allow you to hook up your supply hoses to your kitchen faucet (faucet with threads/aerator). Also, You CAN manually fill your machine (wash/rinse). Remember, your discharge hose will have to reach also. Also, your discharge hose will have to be elevated to its proper height. If too low, the water will run out while filling/washing/rinsing. If too high, all the water will not spin out. I know of no models not made for hook-ups. however, there are some SMALL counter-top models available. Believe me, it`s just about as easy to wash by hand, and use the washer only for spinning!
