Cleaning & Laundry - January 2007

I am having this debate with my girlfriend. I say the point of ironing is to have a nice creased shirt (on the sleeves mainly). but I don't know I only today just started ironing my nice shirts. She claims that the reason for ironing is to get rid of the creases. She does not like the look(on the sleeves). what do you say world, tell me your opinions on ironing! (also we both understand we want to eliminate wrinkles)

My wife cooked kippers this morning and the smell that has been left in the house is really bad and i cant get rid of it. does anyone have a good way of getting rid of this fishy problem!! also she cooked them in the microwave try and sort this problem many thanks from a fishy household.

Can I use the carpet cleaner solution for the big carpet cleaner in my compact? Will it hurt it? The only difference between the two solutions is that one bottle says it's for compacts and the other says it's for the large cleaners.

When I buy new clothes and my mom ends up washing them, they come out not feeling soft as they were before. Like for example, I have a pair of $50 American Eagle jeans that used to feel soft and nice before she washed them. Could it be that she is using cheap laundry detergent? All my clothes end up like this.

I am considering getting a Whrilpool Duet GHW9400 or a LG Bromm SteamWash WM2487HRM. I have heard that putting a front load washer on the second floor is not a good idea because of excessive vibration. If you have had this problem and found a way to resolve it, can you let me know what worked for you? Thanks!

I bought new 400 thread count bed linens, but they are not as soft as I expected. It must be cheaper cotton. How can I make them softer? I've washed them once already, but they are still rough. Is there anything I can put in the washing machine besides fabric softener to make them softer? Please advise. Thank you.
