By carefully mixing your blend of fats/oils with precisely measured sodium hydroxide (lye) or potassium hydoxide (for liquid soap).....add colorant and fragrance of your choice. You can either insulate your soap and 'force' it to go through a 'gel phase' to ensure there is no active lye left in the soap or allow it to cure for about a month before it is safe to use. That is the basic instructions for COLD PROCESS. There is also HOT PROCESS, IN THE MOLD HOT PROCESS and Whipped soaps. Some of the best sites are: millersoaps.com, the whisk international soapmaking forum: http://www.the-whisk.us/forum/index.php, and the soapdish.com
Its a great hobby!
