Before you try bleach, give this a try: white vinager. I had red wine spilled on some upholstery and the white vinager took it right out. I used some baking soda after that to cancel the "salad dressing" odor. Hope it works for you!

Be very careful as once dye is removed from the carpet (assuming it's coloured), there's nothing you can do.

Use very hot water, ideally with wet & dry vac, or just elbow grease. This may be enough as blackcurrant is not too challenging a stain.

Failing that try a few grammes of bio washing powder dissolved up or maybe a stain remover product if you got one. Rub in to the stain and then repeat with water to remove the detergent - or, again lift up with a wet/dry vac. Check for any effect on the colour of the carpet on an inconspicuous area beforehand if worried.

On no account use domestic chlorine bleach - this will decolour the carpet.

Also - the longer the stain is left, the harder it is to remove.

Hi
I would recommend using a wet vac and slowly pour hot water (almost to the boiling point) on the spot and vacuum it up at the same time (this will open up the dye ports on the carpet fibre releasing the stain. and remove the residue from the carpet). If the stain is still visible than use a little carpet spotter on it or Dawn dishwashing liquid (2 or 3 drops into one cup of water) and repeat step 1. The stain may come back in a few days so you may have to do this a few times. Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet. At this point if the stain is still there please call a carpet cleaner.

Pour a liberal amount of soda water over the stained area, then sprinkle plenty of salt onto the wet patch and leave for about 15 minutes. The stain will be absorbed into the salt and all you need do is sweep the salt away. Voila!
