I have lots of shower problems...
First of all, the drain is clogged (probably with hair) and I don't know what to do to get it out, and my parents and older siblings don't care about it. Because it's clogged, the water sits in the shower for a long time before it all drains, which caused a disgusting mold to grow in the shower (and it smells really bad). Also, there's a really bad calcium/rust build up mostly along the shower doors and the showehead.

What can I do to get rid of all these problems? It doesn't need to be all one product since I doubt one exists. If it does, then I might just fall in love with whoever came up with it.

I also don't know if there's a product that can clear my drain, so if there's a manual process to get rid of it, then by all means, let me know!

Thanks a bunch

i posted this in food and drink but then spotted this section so sorry for the repeated question....
I know that it is suggested that items of clothing with gum on should go in the freezer but do i need to do anything else first? should i place teh jeans in a bag? in a tea towel possibly? any advice gratefully received - and thanks in advance =)

Please help - a rusty tray was put in my new stainless steel sink and left wet, when i noticed it had been moved there i picked it up to wash it and saw several rust coloured marks all over the sink where the tray was touching. I can't seem to wipe them away; my sink is brand new - only fitted 2 months ago.

Is there anything i can do? The marks look like they are in the metal. I am so upset as it is not a cheap sink.....

I am now on my own after a long marriage and either my ex wife or my mother has done my laundry all my life. When my laundry comes out I want it smelling fresh and clean as if it was hung out on the line to dry on a warm spring day. What is the trick? How do people get their laundry smelling so fresh? I try using scented fabric softener, but I dump a cap full in at prewash. I don't have one of those places on my washer to fill it so that the washing machine uses it when it wants to. My washing machine and dryer are about 12 years old and do not have all of the fancy shmancy computer controls to add fabric softeners. Also, what is the best detergent to use? Is it the detergent that makes laundry small fresh? Powder or liquid? It's not that my laundry doesn't smell clean, it just really doesn't have a smell at all. I want the strong, scented fresh smell!! What's the secret? Give me the steps!

I got a rug for free, but it smells like a dog... Its a very soft shag type rug... not like a flokati.

How can I clean it and get the odors out?

Is there a way to do this withoug renting any equipment?

I took it outside and tried to clean it with a hose and some soap... wich made me feel better, but I can still smell a yucky wet dog odor.

What should I do..?

Its a really nice rug aside from the odor... with no strange foreign objects caught in the nap or anything like that!

My friend's mother smokes and the smell came with the coat. The coat is made of 100% polyvinylchloride (shell) with a 100% Polyester lining. It can't be washed or dry cleaned, only wiped with a damp cloth.

My boyfriend thinks is it is mostly just getting rid of stuff!!

I watch Mission Organization, read websites and books about organizing and understand the benefits. I also understand that it you can always replace stuff you get rid of....but boyfriend is not happy getting rid of stuff. He thinks those shows are bogus. An empty house looks neater than one with belongings in it, its a no-brainer.

How do I convince him otherwise?

My kitchen is clean. Nothing rotting. Rubbish emptied daily. From today, put everything in fridge, eg dried rice, lentils, muesli, not happy about this.

A diehard packrat, he swears he'll need it one day and I am desperately trying to reduce clutter. If he sees me going through his stuff, he's right there next to me, taking out of the trash anything I have thrown out. I'm running out of room...

Any ideas?
