it still gets hot and it tumbles the clothes, but they aren't getting dry. I have to keep running them until they are dry. Any ideas?

It depends. How old is the dryer?

Do you have different temperature settings?
Mine has delicate, no heat, and permanent press which is the hottest.
You may have switched on a lower temperature setting without knowing it.

Also, make sure the lint is cleaned from the door and the lint basket.

In the back of the dryer is a flexible hose/tube....get someone to help you to check it...if it's clogged, the dryer is shutting down to keep
you FROM HAVING A HOUSE FIRE.
GET HELP WITH THIS PART IMMEDIATELY, OTHERWISE YOU COULD HAVE A HOUSE FIRE!
Vacuum the area behind the dryer and if you see lots of lint, then most likely the flexible hose/tube is clogged and needs to be vacuumed or cleaned by hand.

Dryer venting is not operating properly. The blower motor within a dryer can only push the moist air so far. If you exceed this limit, the dryer will not dry clothes properly and the vent piping can clog easily with lint. The exhaust hood design, the type of exhaust pipe used (smooth metal vent vs. corrugated/flexible metal pipe), and the number of bends in the exhaust piping create friction that slows the air leaving your dryer.

The dryer or the vent may be clogged with lint, not letting the hot damp air out of the dryer fast enough. Pull the vent apart to see if it's full of lint. Also check out the vent termination outside to make sure it is not clogged or blocked. The dryer also may have a lot of lint inside-this is a little harder to clean.
Also the temperature selection switch or the thermostat may be defective, preventing full heat.

Check to see if the exhaust vent has been clogged in any way. Also, make sure the lint filter is clean. If the exhaust vent is blocked, it will cause the clothes to not dry.

Sounds like it is not venting. The vent needs to be clear to remove the moisturized air & let the clothes dry.

Most likely you have a clogged vent, clean the lint trap, and check the vent pipe, once in a while something gets in there,

Sounds like the dryer exhaust vent is obstructed.

There is a removable lint screen right inside the door. Clean the lint from it before each load.

If you live in a place full of humidity i suggest you to buy an ambient deumidifier.

Greetings.
