I have lots of shower problems...
First of all, the drain is clogged (probably with hair) and I don't know what to do to get it out, and my parents and older siblings don't care about it. Because it's clogged, the water sits in the shower for a long time before it all drains, which caused a disgusting mold to grow in the shower (and it smells really bad). Also, there's a really bad calcium/rust build up mostly along the shower doors and the showehead.

What can I do to get rid of all these problems? It doesn't need to be all one product since I doubt one exists. If it does, then I might just fall in love with whoever came up with it.

I also don't know if there's a product that can clear my drain, so if there's a manual process to get rid of it, then by all means, let me know!

Thanks a bunch

Alright, so yesterday i took the drain cover off and shoved an unbent clotheshanger down the drain, and pulled up enough hair to make a hundred wigs out of. And I can't even begin to describe the smell! It was all black, too, which was really weird since I have light brown hair. Maybe it was just mold buildup or something? That's just really gross to think about.

Anyway, thanks to all of you so far for helping me out with this. I'm still trying to decide on a best answer, which will be hard since all of these are great.

first, I am sad that you parents dont care. second
Walmart has a product called Drain Pro. dump that down the drain follow the directions .... it should work to loosen the drain clog. might have to do it twice.

Next we deal with the mold...
walmart again has a thing called Scrub Free (mildew stain remover.) in a spray bottle. spray this on the stains and it should work.

Now to deal with the soap scum... probably at walmart you will find a product called The Works.... it is a toilet cleaner it works on the soap scum in the tub too. squirt it on, and use a green scrubbie pad (like the ones you use to scrub pots and pans) to help clear away the soap scum you might want to use rubber gloves when you do this.

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PRODUCTS TOGETHER !!!!!!!!!
The fumes could make you sick..rinse shower between the two products.
Try to run a fan when you are cleaning and- or open a window.
Alll this should be somewhat cheap.

Two product that i know of. But first get gloves and don't mix them. Lime Away and Sno Bowl (toilet cleaners). Just let it soak and the stuff just melts away. You may have to scrap the calcium a little. I just use the top of my shaving cream can (the plastic thing) and scrap the entire tub with it. It gets everything off. Also rinse and follow up with a bleach or mildew remover. And the powdered cleaner works on hard build up. You can use it when Sno Bowl isn't called for yet.

Now for the drain i had a plumber come to my house. You know what he did. He unscrewed the drain cover took a long unbent hanger with a small hook bent into the end and pulled the hair out. Then poured some liquid Draino type stuff in it. It worked wonders. If you don't have the drain cover get one.
Also look into the self cleaning shower products. This may be more preventative for your family. It just sprays the shower once a day for you. If will be healthier because if you get black mold you can get some serious medical conditions as a result.

Look in your walmart or hardware store for something to put down your drain. If that doesn't work, you may have to put a long snake tool down it to clean out the gunk. Use tilex to clean it. It is very strong, so open a window. Just spray it on and leave it. It will eat away the mold and mildew. You may have to use it a couple of times depending on how bad it is. Then rinse off. If you need to use SOS pads to rub off really bad spots. Comet or Ajax cleanser works well too but you have to use muscles to clean with those.

If ur in the UK then cillit bang is amazing for everything, or lidls own W5 which got a which? best buy award. Other than that try good old dish soap/washingup liquid & bleach. For a mild abrassive action you could use baking powder/bicarb of soda mixed with a little water to form a paste!

drano is good for clogs. be sure to follow the instructions carefully. for the rust and calcium my mom uses "lime away" for the tuff stuff. after that (since it 's reall strong smelling) try to clean your shower as often as possible like few times a week depending how often it gets used with a milder cleaner. you won't have to do a lot of scrubbing if you do it often. casically wiping it down with a sponge or rag. it's alot of work (time wise) but less labour.

for the shower walls get a damp clothe and sprinkle dishwasher grains on it and do the walls ,rinse well. Take a pair of eyebrow tweezers and get into that drain! hope you have a strong stomach! The dishwasher soap works great on glass shower doors to....have a spray bottle with half and half bleach and water under the bathroom sink and after your shower give it a quick spray....this will make shower cleaning day much easier
