she "conviently" forgets to do them. So her father and i end up doing them. i know kids don't look at chores as their all time favorite pass time, but we are trying to teach her to be a responsible child who will grow into a responsible adult. We dont believe in giving her an allowance....but i think she needs some sort of incentive to keep doing them on a regular basis.

covers of a sofa? I have a cream sofa with covers that I can remove and wash at 30 degrees but I was wondering what detergent to use? Is there some sort of protector such as scotchgard that can be added to the wash to prevent them getting dirty again very quickly?

My son wrote on the leather sofa with a black sharpie. I have tried everything I know that wouldn't destroy the leather. Does anyone know how to clean this ?

Anyone know how to get black magic marker off of a tan carpet? Its just a few marks, but I'm scared to try to rub it out and make it worse. Will steam cleaning the carpet work? My 4 yr old found a new toy....

My mother spilled a cappacino on the floor/carpet in my car (which is made of milk) and did not clean it up, its been there about a week. Now my car smells like rotten milk. I shampoo'ed my carpent and used some neutrilizer spray (meant for cars) but it didn't help. I was thinking of using baking soda and water-I heard that is good for bad smells. Any one have any other suggestions on how to get the smell out? NO air freshners, they just make the smell worse!

I am guessing something spilled in my vehicle about a year back because whenever it gets cold it STINKS! I have shampooed it, sprayed it with all kinds of stuff, hung air fresheners, put air freshener vent thingies in, etc. It never goes away! Does anybody have ideas as to how to rid myself of this problem? Any fantastic products or homemade remedies?

We just purchased and installed a laminate hardwood floor in my kitchen and I am trying to find a good product to keep it clean. The instuctions said not to have any standing water/liquid on the floor. Does anyone know of a good product? One I can use with a damp mop that won't leave streaks.

I want to buy a tumble dryer for the garage but there is no window to put the hose out of and I dont want to drill a hole in the wall. Condenser dryers seem an expensive option and I would't have thought it would create that much condensation. Or would it?!

It's in a cottage out of town and it will not be heated all winter.

Sears just said disconnect the water and put anti-freeze in it, but won't water be in the wands and stuff too? (They won't give the details because they want a tech to go out there, but that's just not practical in this case!!)

Please help if you've ever had to do this.

Thanks!

Lifted the hearth rug and it is pristine underneath but the rest of the carpet looks stained from coal dust and general dirt (I DO hoover regularly). What would be the best way to clean it. Made from synthetic fibre.

I recently moved out my parents place and I have to do my own laundry now. Now, I have a couple of items (woolen sweater, some T-shirts, cotton walking pants, some nice shirts, etc) that I really love and would not like to get damaged. I want them to stay looking like they do now, without any pilling, abrasion, shrinking or fading.

In short, I am looking for smart tricks to care for my laundry, like my mother used to (without having to ask her ;-)) )

Thanks in advance for your suggestions...

OK, so I just blew chunks. Don't think I've actually thrown up since Jr High, so I have no idea what to do to clean it up. It's fairly liquidy/biley so I'm thinking that throwing cat litter on it will help soak it up. Any advice? I'm kind of on a deadline.
