I have used Mr.Clean Magin Erasers very sucessfully on dirty walls. It takes off all sorts of grime, crayon, scuff marks, etc. They are fabulous and cost about $3-$4 for a box of 4 depending where you buy them.

When we sold our condo we thought we would have to repaint all the doors and trim because they were so dirty and wouldn't come clean no matter what we used. There were also scuff marks on the walls.

The Magic Eraser made the doors and trim look freshly painted and took off the scuff marks on the walls. On the matt coloured areas it left a bit of white residue but we just wiped down with water after.

They also work on pretty much any other dirty spots you can think of. For instance the baked on grease on the vent cover came out brand new.

It will depend on what you are trying to clean off the walls. If it's just handprints, food splatter or crayon an all-purpose cleaner/ degreaser will work well or you can use a bucket of hot water add a few drops of dish soap and a capful of bleach. Then scrub with a clean non-abrasive sponge or cloth.

Your walls need to be painted with a semi-gloss or gloss paint or it is kind of a lost cause! I've used a wet wash cloth with dish soap and it works pretty well. With walls that are not painted with a gloss paint, try Magic Eraser by Mr. Clean. It shouldn't be too big of a job for you!

I use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It works great and it's not expensive. I use it on my kitchen range, too. It doesn't remove the paint from flat painted walls, and it doesn't scratch porcelain.

If they were painted with a flat wall paint, there's not much you can do besides dusting or wiping them down...

If they were painted with a semi or high gloss paint then you can use a wet sponge with a mild detergent to clean them up...

If they get too messy, the best thing is just to repaint....

mr clean magic eraser, you could also use a lot of water with about a half a cup of bleach dumped in it.

i think you can use Murphy's Oil Soap. but you have to paint your walls with a semi-gloss before you can effectively wipe them down.
