I am guessing something spilled in my vehicle about a year back because whenever it gets cold it STINKS! I have shampooed it, sprayed it with all kinds of stuff, hung air fresheners, put air freshener vent thingies in, etc. It never goes away! Does anybody have ideas as to how to rid myself of this problem? Any fantastic products or homemade remedies?

try this 1:1 ration 1 cup water 1 cup alcohol (grain). it is like fabreeze put in about 10 drops of what ever esssential oil you like, mix it up and spray it onto/into the car just continue this until the smell goes away. if you have a garage or some place save that your car will not be taken or broken into then roll the windows down just a crack at night to help vent the smell out.

My sister had the same problem when a skunk sprayed the inside of her car. She tried everything from shampooing to air fresheners. She found two things that got rid of the smell. The first thing was spraying the car (i.e. seats, floor, trunk) with the antibacterial Frebreze made for automobiles. Then afterward, she placed Bounce dryer sheets under the seats, in the trunk, and in between the cushions. The smell was gone and never came back. I hope this helps!

The bodies go in the trunk! That's one of the first lessons you learn as a hitman. Jeesh.

No really, I think you're in trouble because what probably happened was that the yucky stuff seeped into the carpet pad underneath the carpet. I would pull up the carpet and give it a thorough clean.

Either that or put a dead fish in the heater vent and you won't notice the other smell.

I have heard of smells coming back when it gets hot but not when it gets cold.

It doesn't sound like this smell is from an old spill. Cold wouldn't make it recur if that was the case.

Is the smell present only when the heater is on?

I think you need a mechanic to look at it.
