covers of a sofa? I have a cream sofa with covers that I can remove and wash at 30 degrees but I was wondering what detergent to use? Is there some sort of protector such as scotchgard that can be added to the wash to prevent them getting dirty again very quickly?

There are a lot of detergents which work well even in cold water, and if you want to protect the covers from dirt I would suggest that once they are dry and in place you spray them with scotch guard. that way the dirt would not ingrain itself into the fibre, one word of warning do not use scotch guard in a closed room and leave the window open for at least 24 hrs to get rid of the smell

I would use regular detergent with some Oxy Clean. Scotchguard is a spray that you can apply after the cover is dry
