My husband and I have a large 2 bedroom apartment in Hoboken (near NYC). He has had his housekeeper for years, and she has been cleaning our current apartment for 3 years before I moved in. We pay her $100 per week - she comes once a week and does a fabulous job. Since we pay her a lot already, we decided that we wouldn't raise her pay (and she hasn't asked for a raise either) and instead just give her a bigger bonus. There really isn't that much more work for her to do since I have moved in - I do quite a bit of the day-to-day cleaning myself.
Does this sound okay, or should we consider giving her a raise, perhaps next year? How much of a bonus should we give? We were thinking about doubling what is usually given, or perhaps give her a couple of extra bonuses throughout the year.
