the stain had been there from when we were watching a friends dog. how do the marks off the nice wood floors? HELP!

you might have to restain the whole wood floor if this is what the problem is. Urine can bleach out the colour of the wood and make it look lighter so restaining and polishing is the usual method on correcting this household problem

The urine has burnt the finish off the floor, you cannot remove this. You will have to refinish the floor. I would talk to your friend about helping with the costs. First check with your insurance agent, this could be covered under your policy, I have done many restoration claims on floors for the same type of damage.
