I purchased old nesting Tupperware containers at a charity sale. The containers are good condition, unfortunately, the containers have a strong plastic smell. What methods and/or products can I use to get rid of the smell and still be able to use the containers for food storage? Or is the material the containers are made out of in the process of degradation?

Simple Green! I use this on all laundry stains. It is much cheaper to buy than the stain removers in the grocery store. Just spray it on a stain and then throw in the washer. Lynn Tetreault

You can use Prell shampoo to remove stains like grass, blood, etc. on clothing. Just rub it in good before you throw the item in the washer. Penny, MI
or
To remove stains of all kinds, even red mud, just use Windex with ammonia. Kay Johnson, Prattville, AL
or
Liquid dish soap works on almost any clothing stain that hasn't been washed and dried yet, especially oil or butter stains. I don't use the more expensive laundry stain-removers any more. Just make sure you use light-colored dish soap, especially on light-colored fabrics. Robin Collett, VA
To get tough stains out of almost anything use Ajax Dish Liquid (Orchard fresh smells the best). Pre-treat the area with a moderate amount and let it set for about 5-10 minutes then wash inside out. Lana Bradshaw, MI
or
Spray 409 on clothes stains then wash. It works wonders

I know there are some without dye, but most have dye in them. It seems counter-intuitive and unnecessary.

I went away for the weekend and when I came back my snake was dead. The smell was horrible. I have let my house air out for two days, but the smell is still in the wood.

The gum is under my couch but I still want to remove it without losing any color from the rugs. The gum has been there for a while and its flat and embedded in the rug.

I heard that adding 2 quarts of a dark beer to laundry while washing would make everything very soft and pleasant smelling, what do you think?

My wife and I live with the inlaws in S.E Asia, the house is normally immaculate. Our bed room is very small with a great deal of books and papers - she has a lot of clothes and little things everywhere. I picked up my book which is right next to the bed at night to see 3 of these little buggers run out from the pages - I squished them on sight! We've pulled the bed from the wall and thouroughly vacuumed it and the walls and crevices, tomorrow we plan to put all of the books and clothes in plastic bags with the hopes that if there are any more bed bugs - they will die in the plastic bags!

We really don't want to alert her mam as she WILL respond badly and look for someone to blame - so we'd prefer to get rid of these things without her knowing (or) if she were to find them herslef and we could just play dumb and be surprised!

They haven't really bit us all that much - we seldom have any bites do you think that this meens that there aren't so many bugs at this stage?

I am remodeling a condo (almost finished), but one of the showers is SO nasty. It is cultured marble and the door is textured glass. It was a rental for 17 years, and it is nasty dirty with mildew, rust stains, and just dirt. I've tried all kinds of things to clean it, and it gets some gunk off, but not all of it, so it still looks dirty. Any ideas on how to get it REALLY clean without harming the marble? Thanks!
