First try to vacuum them using the hose with the brush attachment. You can buy this blind cleaning gizmo that cleans about 4 slats at a time while they are hanging, but I have found that it scoots the dust and dirt to the strings where it is harder to remove. Lay a towel in the window sill. Close the blinds and spray them with a cleaning solution like Simple Green or 409. Work from the top down in small areas because the dirt and solution will drip down. Use a cellulose sponge that is damp to wipe the slats, rinsing as needed to remove the dirt build up.

I agree with the first answer for how to clean it, however, you may want to just replace them for more practical blinds. I can't imagine metal blinds looking nice enough to go through the hassle of cleaning them... There is a very large variety of stylish, practical mini blinds that can be taken down to clean, and probably don't look as dirty as metal. Try home depot... Good luck!

depending on how many mini blinds you have to clean, I'd say get a box (or 2) of Mr. Clean Magic erasers and a bucket of water and go to work. you don't need cleaning fluids with the erasers, just a little elbow grease , but very little. Those things clean great!

Unfortunately this is a rotten job! But you will have to get a bucket of warm water with a good cleaning agent in it, a cloth and literally clean them by hand, takes forever, but the end results will be worth it, Good Luck, (I have done this many times before) lol
